Project Idea: IR Tripped Camera

I had an idea for a IR tripped camera. So that when the IR barrier is tripped the camera will take a picture. You could use this to see the people that show up at your house, apartment, dorm, or it could be attach to stakes and used as a deer cam. If you have an old camera laying around the cost would be under 20 bucks. I would like to do this project but I have little experience using a relay.
You could use this ir kit from ramsey electronics its only 10 dollars.

I think that you could remove the speaker and add the relay which I believe this relay from radioshack would work http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2049716&cp=&sr=1&origkw=relay&kw=relay&parentPage=search
I am using a old 3.2 megapixel sony cyber shot camera for the camera which will always be pluged into power. If you use them outside you could use these waterproof boxes I found in the camping section of walmart. I hope someone can help and I also think this would be a cool show idea.

Funny enough I have the same kit (Actually a bunch of them, pays to buy in bulk)

I did a similar thing, something we never showed was my rig with that and a simple 555 circuit on the crane game.

If a prize dropped into the hopper the sensor would trip and send a signal to the k8055 board. The web server would check to see if there was a win and if there was it would say, you won and then reset the relay. Then i had a linear actuator that would eject the prize out the door and into a hopper on the floor.

But i didnt think of a camera tripper, good idea. That one will go on my project board tonight, maybe it can happen.

Thanks I would love to see a show on it so I can finish this project or atleast if you do this a small write up so I can finish and I have some other ideas that would make a great show idea. Also I was thinking after I made this post you could also use a small timer cirucit and you could make in trip a video camera to record and then the timer would trip the record off.
