I know I'm a bit biased here since 30 Days of Night is one of my favourite trades of all time, but this comic book film looks very promising...
Let's hope they pull off the scene where Eben Olemaun (Josh Harnett) takes out the whole group of Vampires single handed.

Wow, Thanks for the heads up Aleks!
I just refreshed the forum one last time before heading to bed and this post popped up.
I just finished re reading 30 Days, and I forgot how much I liked it. This movies take looks like it could be interesting. I'm just getting the vibe that it's more of a human fighting vamps epic battle type movie. The part I loved about the book was it was anything but. It was more of a human survival story. I hope that this is just another one of those cases of a trailer being cut in a way that doesn't match up to what the final movie is.

I agree... one of the most important elements in the book was survival but being a comic book geek, we all love the scenario where a "hero" learns to use his new superhuman abilities.
Clark Kent basically learnt it on the farm.
Peter Parker used it against Flash/Wrestler
Eden basically took on a mob of Vampires =)
I really hope this movie is done right (like 300) because we need to raise the bar for vampire flicks/books. There really hasn't been a new take on a Vampire flick since Quentin Tarintino/Robert Rodiguez's From Dusk Till Dawn.
I went to the movies over the weekend and saw the trailer. It looks good. I've never read the comic.

What ever the story may be, it looks like they have definitely hit the mark when it comes to the STYLE of the movie...it looks like it's going to be beautiful! It almost captures that beautiful Ben Templesmith art.
I'm very intrigued now...looks like it could be really good! (And such a GENIUS concept!)

I have been waiting for this trailer/movie for a long time. It's been in the works for the last two years or so. 30DON is my one series that no matter what direction it goes in I can't not read it.
The original story line that took place over 3 runs is amazing. Niles and Templesmiths idea on this book/series was great and when I read the trade I always end up reading it one sitting because I can't put it down.
If you haven't read the first one I highly recomend it.
Well, we've got just about everything else going on, and this one actually comes out this year!!
So what do you think?
Did you read the original series?
Will Templesmith's art translate?
Is Josh Hartnett going to be able to go 30 days of night without sleeping with someone?
GO!

So what do you think? I personally can't wait to see it. I friggin' love the concept of Vampires actually playing it smart for once.
Did you read the original series? The original story and a few of the follow-ups. I think it's starting to get a bit watered down from my point of veiw though.
Will Templesmith's art translate? This would be one of the greatest movies ever if they went the route of 300 and made the whole film look like the splatter-crazy art of the books.
Is Josh Hartnett going to be able to go 30 days of night without sleeping with someone? Of course. I think that's in his contract.

Word. Such a fantastic concept, and amazing it hasn't been done before.

Yeah I read the first one, was blown away, then Dark Days and for me the magic was gone.

Word, again.

I don't know he almost didn't make 40 days and 40 nights (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0243736/)...
Oops guess I missed the original thread, sorry...

You guys can watch the prequels on fearnet.com if you want a taste of what the movie will likely be. They're not bad.
