Recently I've been noticing a lot of random lagging and slow loading time from my Broadband Connection. I called the company to find out what the problem was but they claimed everything was working fine. Recently while using iTunes this folder came up in iTunes under the "Shared" section called "Christina's Music". I'm the only one that uses this PC and have never seen that before. I clicked on it and it gave me a port error. I'm wondering if my Internet was hijacked and being used by someone else(thus creating the random lag I've been getting), what would be the best way to find out? Thanks.

Christina strikes again.
I'd suggest getting a program that monitors your internet traffic (I don't know one off hand, but I'm sure there are many) and check for stuff out of the ordinary. If you so happen to be using a wireless router, make sure it's encrypted. Running a spyware scan won't hurt either.

I know that PeerGuardian2 (http://www.phoenixlabs.org/pg2/) monitors internet traffic, though I'm not able to connect to their site right now, so you'd probably have to wait a while before checking it out.

Thanks for the Tip.
Do you know someone who had this same problem? Since you said "Christina Strikes Again"

Peerguardian doesnt monitor the internet traffic. It just blocks specific IP's from connecting to your computer. It's primary goal is to try and 'protect' people from the MPAA/RIAA. But its a shitty program so it doesnt really do that.
Chances are, your wifi was just hacked. Change your password + Enable encryption.
Look in your router and see who's connecting via wireless. If its a computer you dont know, disconnect them.

Really now, I thought it just logged every single connection to and from your computer. I know nothing of this "p2p" you were most likely referring to.

If they were connecting via wireless the fies wouldnt be on his drive unless they were shared with windows file sharing with write access enabled under your account. It's possible you have a trojan or a "root" server running to share the files with people. Scan yourself with an online scanner, i recommend trendmicro.

OK Striker. I'll try that and post results. thanks
I did install "PeerGuardian2" and was surprised at all those US Military I.Ps coming in. My PC doesn't even have anything the least interesting to them, unless they like looking at my artwork :p
noonebutme - No, I don't use Wifi. I just have a standard broadband modem and only one PC in my household.

For using it or for DLing on P2P?
Edit: Whoops NVM, that was a dumb question.
Sorry to hear you got some written to though, hope it wasn't anything too serious.

Well, actually assuming you updated it. It can work correctly and you still get letters. I believe the RIAA and MPAA hit the trackers, so even if you are using something to block their IP address, your IP is on the tracker. and BAM you get hit with the letter. Peergaurdian is great for non-Bittorrent things though.

Er.. No - it doesnt log connections. It just shows the most recent connection attempts that it blocks.

The files arent on his Drive. The "(insert name) Music Folder" In iTunes means that iTunes found it on a shared drive on the network and tried to mount it at one point.

Erm, they cant get your IP from a tracker by visiting the tracker page directly. For peerguardian to block an IP, the IP has to try to connect to you in the first place. Cause of this, they already know your IP is on the particular torrent. Oh, and PE - Peer Exchange - they dont need to connect to you to get your IP. Supported by Azureus and uTorrent. Primarily to help if the tracker's down - but the way it works is the way it works. Oh, and the peerguardian blocklists are maintained by an egotistic asshole who adds IP's to the blocklist as a way to try and get what he wants.
The only time i've ever seen (name's) iTunes Music or (name's) Limewire Music is whenever someone on my network installed iTunes or Limewire. other then that, iTunes shouldnt even see anything. You invite someone over & they hooked their laptop up? I dunno whats causing it, but do know its not caused by your computer being hacked. If you want, install a GOOD firewall - i'd recommend Sygate 5.6 personal pro - it's free & one of the best. THen you can monitor incoming and out going connections - it'll ask you for each connection and you can set rules by programs and so on.
