Okay. I was listening to the tech guy podcast, and Leo was explaining that a caller could install OSX onto a firewire external HD, and then boot from that drive on their mac. Well, I have ubuntu and the grub bootloader on my pc, and I whenever I leave a thumbdrive in the pc it stops me, so I assume I can boot from a removable drive. So, my question is could I install OSX on an external Hard Drive and boot into it using grub?

okay, I found this:

one more question: Can I use an old ipod as that external drive? And if I do, will i permanently ruin it, or just until I run the restorer built into itunes?

I think from futher research that I can indeed use my ipod for this, and I should be able to restore it at any time.

I run OSx86, you can't just install ordinary OS 10 to an external hard drive on a Mac and then transfer it over to your PC and boot it, it won't work. You need to download a patched OSx86 DVD, I recommend uphuck's DVDs as they are good solid releases.
