Well my girlfriend's parents gave us a big old steak, the only problems being that I've never cooked a steak before and I don't have a grill. So we have a broiling pan, but I still don't know what I'm doing. Naturally I google how to broil a steak. A short video from About.com later and I feel pretty confident about it. I cut the steak in half, wash the pieces, dry them, rub in some spices and throw them on the heated broiling pan. After a few minutes I flip it, and a few more minutes they're done. I wanted them well done, but probably did it a little too well, but I'm just that good.
I'm waiting for a verdict on how good they are. Unfortunately she didn't get off of work when expected, and had to stop at the bank and her parents. They've been done for a half an hour and will be cold, but c'est la vie.
