Is it just me or is it horrible.

Yea yea yea, the PS3, Wii, and XBOX360 are all hyped up beyond all comprehension.

But from the stuff I hear from people...It makes me glad I'm not a console gamer.

Friends and random people on message boards are all saying the same things: "Oh man I CAN NOT WAIT to get the <system>. Its going to have <game>!"

Thats it? You want it because of one game? People seem to spend 400+ on these consoles and then shell out another 40-50 for games. Some of them even have online subscriptions you have to pay for.

The other thing is a lot of people just trade in the console later on to get the next one and spend tons more money.

Maybe its just me, but I really think the console gaming market is unbelievably overpriced and I'm glad to be a PC gamer.

The final thing that boggles my mind is this: (This argument does not work against the Wii) - Why console games at all? The PC has been ahead of console gaming for so so so so long and its not that hard to figure out how to use a computer. The graphics are on par if not better than any console and you don't need to keep buying a new computer. My Dell 8100 from 2000 was able to run Counter-Strike: Source @ a constant 60fps on medium detail.

I'm wondering what you guys think of the console gaming market. Do you really enjoy shelling out all that money for some game thats exclusive to a system? Is it worth paying $500 to get some console to just play that one game you want?

but yeah, I see ur point.. i've been a pc whore foralong time now and the only reason im buying a nwe console is because the Wii is a differant concept than the others i've seen.

You man not need a new computer, but you sure as shit have to drop nearly the price of a console on a new video card every year if you really want to get a comperable look out of the game and have it run smooth.

I get where your coming from, I have been a 100% PC gamer since Nintendo 64 and I haven't bothered with anything else since. You can do much more on the computer, mods, many games, higher graphics and power normally. I love it.

Exactly. While, yes you can get away with gaming on a mediocre machine(I first started playing computers games--CS, Unreal Tournament, Tribes--on a Gateway), you really can't keep up for more than a year without upgrading your machine. Console gaming is just so much more accessible and easy for people to understand. It is meant for video games. A lot of people don't see computers as the same thing as a PlayStation or Nintendo. Yeah, people say, "Oh man, I need a console because of this game", and that's generally how it works. I got an Xbox because me and my friends really got into Halo. That doesn't mean that to this day I only play Halo. But if there isn't that ONE game that makes you have to have a system, then what is the point of spending a few hundred dollars on it?

PC gaming makes sense to people who know an above average amount about computers. It doesn't to most everyone else.

I like playing video games on consoles. **** it. I'll buy every damn thing I can afford and keep my laptop for business. And porn.

I hate HATE a keyboard for gaming I rather not and can't afford to buy a new video card every 6 months.

I don't buy a console for "one game" I buy them for a bunch of games and games series and I prefer the selection of genre games consoles offer..also when playing games like to be relaxed on my couch.

Always have and always will be a console gamer.

I almost started crying... your speach... it's like I was speaking through you.

Amen, my friend. Amen.

Now what games are we gonna hit up online once we get our Wiis?

Alot of console games are not on pc and a wii only costs 250 which is far less than a pc and you dont need to upgrade your video card or do any modding(unless you want to). I think a PC compared to a console is much weaker in terms of viruses and bugs.

There's generally that one game that convinces people to buy a console - but never one game only. Like, Halo made people buy Xbox, but it had a bunch of other great games - KOTOR, Jade Empire, etc.

As for me, i like x360 cause its not on the computer, where i spend most of my time - it's different, ya know?

Some games just play better on PC. I mean, I couldn't imagine Playing Half Life 2 without a keyboard and mouse...

But, sometimes, it's nice to realax on the ole' couch, pull up a controller, and do some serious button mashing.

Untrue on so many levels.

If you're buying a new video card every year or even 2 or 3 years you need to seriously read up on computers.

Also good video cards aren't that expensive anymore so when you do buy them its not bad.

You're statement would be true if you were buying from Alienware or something terrible.
