So I was checking out this article at ign.com (http://movies.ign.com/articles/811/811807p1.html) and it had something that immediately caught my eye. Not sure if the Totally Rad guys knew about this but here you go....
"Avatar: The Last Airbender: M. Night Shyamalan is making a live-action version of the animated Nickelodeon children's series Avatar: The Last Airbender. Shyamalan, according to Variety, has signed a three-picture deal with Paramount's MTV Films and Nick Movies to bring the show to the big screen. He will write, direct and produce what the studio hopes will become a franchise. Avatar follows the adventures of the successor to a long line of Avatars who must put aside his irresponsible ways and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations."

We've known about it for quit awhile. Watch Realbender, about halfway through and listen to what Steve has to say on the subject.

That guy hasn't made a movie that didn't suck since Unbreakable.
But then, I'm not really looking forward to a live action Avatar in the first place.
Especially when the cartoon Avatar is so awsome. Why **** it up?

Is this the project he's working on with James Cameron or is that some other project?

I guess the TRS guys missed the Avatar panel at Comic-Con, cause M. Night made an appearance with Co-Creator Michael Dante DiMartino (via Satellite)
See for yourself (http://amiracopyright.com/internet/avccsaturdayasn.html)
I am actually excited about this, M. Night's downfall is not his directing, but his writing. And since he didn't write the source material for these films, and since he is working very closely with the Avatar creators and writers on this, I not in the least bit worried (as long as this thing has a decent budget.) Then again, look at my Avatar in the corner, you might think I am biased. ::wink wink::

I still haven't watched season 2 of Avatar but a movie excites me a bit. As long as Appa looks cute n fuzzy I think I'll enjoy it :3

I think the TRS guys mentioned this news a while ago. I've enjoyed most of M. Night's work but I think its really going to take something special to capture the spirit of Avatar.

Shyamalan is a fine director. True, his writing usually isn't superb...but the man shoots a good film.

... Wasn't this awfully like the description of brunch from the early seasons of The Simpsons?

:\ Not everyone feels that way.Yes, we're all well aware that some people don't have any taste.

To insinuate that M. Night Shyamalan is devoid of any talent or that he has not made films that people with "taste" could enjoy is just silly. I expect those comments to be made over at IMDb or AICN, where the boards are flooded with "If you didn't like this you are stupid" and "If you did like that you are inferior" nonsense. I hate thinking that I am overreacting or that I am being to defensive, but some times I just get tired of visiting forums because everything tuns into a flame-fest, instead of a great way of sharing thoughts and ideas.
Eh, but what do I know, I probably read things the wrong way.
