It slow for anyon else? Im speed testing my wan for my area and im pulling 13mb with 2 version of downloads for for the show, one on BT and the other rev3. I cant get over like 50-70kb, the 70 is BT. I got plenty of bandwidth left.
Just wondering if my isp is starting to throttle, or if its just a slow day. Seems a big issue lately.

I thought the quicktime version was slow too, so I went to iTunes to download and it gave me a quote of 5-hours till completion.
I did make it through the intro though, very nice. They step it up a notch each episode.
Next one...how about the Paper Street front porch scene from Fight Club.."Bad news friend, its not gonna happen. I'm sorry if there is a misunderstanding, its not the end f the world. Just go away. Go, cause you are trespassing and I will have to call the police."

Great Opening Great show as always... Once again I am waiting for them to review Shoot 'Em Up.
I totally agree that the table slide in Stranglehold demo gets a bit repetitive. But I had tons of fun playing the game!

great ep as always. I was glad to see Alex mention battlefield 2 when you guys were talking about COD4 because that's exactly what I was thinking. It would be awesome to see a game like that on the console 'cause I thoroughly enjoy me some bf2.

Yeh one take to get it, 13 to get it wrong. Your girlfriends nicknames for you don't apply.
I wish I'd been walking a dog past the windows to that house and seen that dancing. "You know honey this new account is really going to work for me, I'll really be able to show my skills, I'm so glad I moved out here and took a risk on this company and neigbourhood, - uhhmmm honey .. . .It's those 3 guys again, and someone is filming them do it this time, oh gross.. Don't they have girlfriends? Just pack some bags, we're leaving tonight."

Ladies, ladies hello! Oh, Jeff, tell Dan and Alex they need Metroid Prime 3. I STILL don't have a Wii, although I waited in line for it, but I want that game. However, a little game called "BioShock" is going to consume me, so I'll be ok for now.

How many times must one watch Beetlejuice to be able to duplicate that scene so accurately? Such a classicly awkward dance scene, and yet you captured all the subtleties perfect. When Dan started doing the napkin thing I had my figurative jaw on the floor.
It really looks like you spent years preparing for that. Rock on.

This is in respoce to the opening comment about sports... Sorry Jeff and Alex.
I chose to write about this subject to you in a square cause I think we are kind of conditioned to listen to people when they or the words are in the shape of a square. And it is in Hollywood were we give people what they want, violence, thats what it seems to come down to.
I didn’t want to so much preach to people but rather bring up some issues. I am a gay digital artist that specializes in anthropomorphization. My art work has the ability to tap into the mind, far deeper than people realize, on a variety of medias. Since people like me and our work tend to be a scapegoat I figured I would talk about “blame”. Currently people want to blame music, they want to blame movies and video games. Yet have we forgotten that we have a dead guy hanging by a tree in our living rooms? This is something we worshipped all our lives. If you think about it, the Crucifies is the greatest mass marketed piece of merchandise in the history of the world. Though its interesting that they never sat down to talk about that on the news.
Also, I wondered why no body cares when an adult commits some senseless act of violence, they don’t want to have a reason why, it’s only when a kid does it. When an adult is given a reason for why, its always something primitive as to why. For example, Oswalt well he was a commie, Timothy McVay he was crazy, what about George W. Bush, why did he shoot all those bombs and kill those foreigners? Well hese the president and its the american way.
What has begun to confuse people and why we are in this state of kayos and illogical uptightness is whit teenagers. Thats the real paradox (enigma). Why are they mad? They’re middle class, white, they are spoiled, parents even buy some of them guns, so what do they have to be mad about? Is it because they know America is a lie? Or is it because we make them feel as if they are never good enough? Never good for the scholarship, for the girl, for the car, never good enough to be famous for fifteen minutes. Isn’t it the first race in kindergarden, were moms yells, “get the white ribbon, get the white ribbon!” the child says “oh, I got the yellow ribbon” “oh, well. Thats ok, its ok.” Then at high school games its the moms yelling, “Kill’em Kill’em!” Ancient roam reappers. It’s the children and moms, they both want blood. They always have, its nothing new. People pretend just because Fox News or Montel Williams says that ‘times are violent’ that its something brand new.
The thing that kinda of struck me, that has been avoided and ignored because people always want to point the finger at someone like me because I am the obvious and easy target for I seem like I cause trouble, and I do, I try to. But I think its like the Gladiator, the sports hero is the icon and the status quo. More than Elvis or James Dean He’s into Wheaties. He’s into McDonalds, he’s in movies, and later he even had his own talk show.
Though what is this saying to kids when we think about it for a second? Sports; physical prowess is more important than intelligence and knowledge? Is that encouraging America to not only be more violent and mindless? Are we going backwards on the evolution charts? I would like to check but the evolutionary chart in gone from the school.
I think that every one growing up now knows that jock practically ruled the schools. You look at a movie like the Outsiders or Heathers, the nerds, the throwaways, the thinkers, the day dreamers, the queers. These are the beaten, these are the kids that can’t drink out of the water fountain today. I don’t see any one standing up for their civil rights. All of sudden we wind up being surprised that they are mad or dead. Why, why the violence? You made them america what do you expect? Look at Woodstock for example. It was meant to be a bunch of hippies, love and P.C. and united colors of Benin ton, with bottled water. Instead they got riots, fights, fire, and rape. Part of it is this phenomenon that to me is related to sports. It was when Rap and Rock mixed and created this oxymoron called Jock Rock.
Think of it as when people go to a party they don’t understand but they are smart enough to know that they are the stupidest people their, so that makes them mad. I think thats what Woodstock was. You had these white kids in football jerseys trying to make rock and roll by making it a sport of raping girls and beaten each other up. Every one is then surprised, asking “Why? Why? It’s the music, its the music!”
I think of part of mans evolution is always to compete. Parents driving there kids particularly though sports. You got Oj Simpson, “oh, he can’t be guilty. He’s the american hero.” We were just about to put his face on the three dollar bill. Then this Rae Carruth msn, this NFL wide receiver was charged of murdering his pregnant girlfriend. Did people ask why? “Why he do it?” No, no one cares why. Another, Ray Lewis NFL line backer charged with a double homicide in Atlanta on Super Bowl Sunday. The most violent day of the year, and of course the most expensive commercial time. You got Charles Manson sitting in prison for conspiracy, sentenced to death, and then you got this other guy walking the streets, because he’s a sports hero.
Another story that really struck me, kinda got me thinking about all this was this teenager, a couple years ago. Their was this punk rock rocker kid, who was run down in an IHOP parking lot by a white jock and his girlfriend in Dad’s Cadillac. This boy died cause he was run down by a drunk peace of shit that hated him and always picked on him, all cause he looked different. Then we got a situation were we got six kids who got their noses pierced and thirty jock who are the popular kids. The jocks are picking on them, calling them fags etc.
So this murder occurs, the guy kills this kid and is clearly guilty and his guilt is admitted. Any guess were this all american athlete is? He’s in college. The jury felt that the punk rocker deserved to die since he looked the way he did. Not only was he killed, but he was killed again in the court for they questioned his life style for he didn’t wear Abercrombie shirts and caky pants. And the killer was applauded at graduation for he was a football star, The American dream, Strong and Normal! He never spent a day in prison.
So who is to blame? Every one is says “Too much violence! Too much violence today!” Did we forget about the Civil War, The Bible, Shakespeare? Violence isn’t brand new. Seeing violence isn’t the problem rather seeing violence as a solution to solve the problem is what’s sending a bad message to kids growing up. Even going back to the western, the hero kills the villein and saves the day. Children that grew up in WWII learned that total violence was the answer. This is were are dyeing culture began and a dying culture kills every thing it touches. So these ids grew up learning this, passing values down to their children, “we won the war! But, damn that Hitler. Genocide and all the terrible things he did. Though we dropped the bombs but that different cause were Americans and we believe in God.”
This is were we create what I see as the, “The God Band-Aid.” Thats when you got a problem, you stick the God Band Aid on it. “My recored is dirty and violent, but I just won a Grammy so I want to thank god.” or “Some one just killed my daughter!” “Don’t worry, shies with God now.” “Oh, ok.” how about “You killed somebody!” “But I believe in god now, and he forgives me.” Then every one ells with the box of God-Aids say “oh. He believe in god now, he’s like us, so he’s ok now.”
So bad parents make bad kids. From that I ask “Is adult entertainment killing out children? Or is killing our children entertaining adult?” This is the kind of question we need to ask out selves today. Ask your self that; when you see via the hungry eyes at the crime seen, or at the funeral, or the plain crash, interviewing the victims, 24 hour coverage of seeing a guy who had already blown his brain outs in the public park.
Rate now I am reading my text on a screen, we sit in front of the TV and computer starring for hours. We are the TV, we’re a copy of another copy, and a copy, copy, copy. It’s like the idiot on Dr. Phil who watches the monitor waiting to see him self, and he just sees himself again and again and again. Eventually we just see a Zerox that is so degenerated that we don’t know which came first.
This is were we are.

I don't know which I liked better...the Beetlejuice opening or the "if you're about to get raped...jack-off" slip. Both were hilarious.
I was surprised none of them came up with an answer like 'Boogie Nights' or similar when trying to think of a movie to live out...but Brewster's Millions was a good answer too.

You might be forgetting the part of boogie nights where he was broke and drugged out and pleasuring men in parking lots.
I'd like to live out the main kid in D.A.R.Y.L. Or Brewsters Millions but as John Candy. .. oh wait, Taking Care Of Buisness with Jim Belushi and Charles Grodin. Yeah that one.

Hmm, I remembered the paying to see it...I forgot that was just the cheaper of the options. Ok, maybe skip that and just grab a porn (with some plot at least). Go for a 'sick' ride and go with Flower of Flesh and Blood.
Actually, I wouldn't mind Infinity.

Dan, thats a great story. I need to find me a girl like that! One who can kick my ass in Goldeneye. I'll marry that one!
Sad to say this but I've never played Goldeneye.
Ok back to talking about the show. Great opening made me laugh out loud hysterically (but not too loud since it was 12am when I started watching this). And it's good to see that Alex and Dan are onboard for the Wii since I think more Wii games need to be discussed. Hopefully a discussion on Metroid Prime3:Corruption will take place when the game comes out. Also, Dan saying jack out probably the funniest moment in any episode so far.

Yeah, the whole Jack off slip gave me the "laugh til i cough" syndrome...and then again when Alex said, "cool AND the gang" and Dan stumbled and then alex looks at him with his chin up a bit, saying: "I said that before you did..."
what a brotherly moment...classic and hilarious...awesome show...first time I've actually gone back with the ol' rewind button to laugh again and again...like watching Top Secret or Airplane...
Movie I'd like to experience as the main character...either Dreyfus in Close Encounters (that would blow anyone's mind)...or banderas in mask of zorro...cause ive loved zorro since a kid...and zeta jones? fahgetta-bout it...
WAIT - I got it...The Rocketeer would be a fun one...

In the past, if I hadn't seen the movie, then the show became a lil like eating fish. It's good, you're loving it, but you just can't tear into it for fear of a random bone jab.

In the derisive reply to your post, "tl;dr" has a little to do with leetspeak and is merely a rather sardonic abbreviation of "too long; didn't read". Personally, I feel the reply has merit for several reasons. Firstly, the post is indeed overly long. I suspect the real reason why you got such a response has more to do with the rambling nature of the post; the tangential at best relation to anything to do with the show in general and this thread in particular; and to me the most importantly, the violation of grammar and spelling in delivering your nigh unfathomable point. I also particularly enjoy the irony that is created by pairing one internet phenomena, the incomprehensible rant, with the netslang response which also managed to include the lolcat meme.

I made myself read your initial post from start to finish, and I came up with:
"The glorification of sporting prowess is but a symptom of a larger social tendency to simplify individual differences, especially those of the silent minorities, in order to justify overly simplistic explanations of recurrent social problems or deviations from the social norms. Particularly shameful is the American reverance of the physically blessed or the overtly pious, which is often used to excuse appaling hate crimes."
No sure if that is three lines though.

While there is already a comic podcast on Revision3, I like how TRS approaches comics. Really it feels like Jeff convincing Dan and Alex about how great comics are. It makes the reviews and descriptions more approachable and less, "inside baseball".
Perhaps we could say that TRS is the Wii to iFanboy's XBOX360/PS3?
Just saying, as a past comic book fan who's just starting to get back into things it's nice to hear comic recommendations from guys that are more like friends than the comic shop guy.

Hey guys, new member here. Been watching TRS since day one though! Absolutely love it, definitely my favorite podcast out of all the podcasts I watch and I always take the extra time to download the episode in Xvid Large. Keep up the good work!
That said, I've never really been interested in comic books, I'm more of a novel kind of guy. But to be honest, I haven't really given comic books a fair chance, so I went and picked up issue one of "The Surrogates" as mentioned in this episode.
WOW.
I loved it, every second of it. So much, in fact, that I went back and bought the other four issues! I'm trying to pace myself to an issue a day, so the experience lasts longer, but I'm finding it very tempting to just sit down and read the last four issues in one go!
Thanks so much for opening this whole new world to me! Even though I'm sure I'll hate you for it later, because next thing you know, I'll have to rent a storage shed for all my comic books! :p

Btw: Dan, your so lucky! I would love to have a girlfriend like that! Also, Stardust sounds right up my alley, I'm definitely going to have to check that one out! I've seen Willow and The Princess Bride, easily two of my all time favorites. ^_^

Quite easily the best intro ever. I much perfer the ones that aren't put into the movies. Of course without it there are some I wouldn't have any idea what they are. Before this the idol and whip one was my favorite.
Lets see loved Stardust, almost on par with Princess Bride, but only almost.
I read the first issue of Astonishing X-men back when it came out, back before I got into Firefly though. Still I contend that comic books is among Joss Whedon's weakest medium. The Serenity comic book really wasn't that great overall and I wasn't impressed by Astonishing X-men at all.

Wow, great show. The first one I've watched fully. I've just never had time. But this is an awesome show, really.
I love the quirkiness and ad-lib and chemistry between the three of the guys.
The beginning into was hilarious, as well as the many Danny slip-ups. But that's okay, that's what makes it human.

Hey, was recommended TRS by a friend, and am loving the good work.
Like the guys I started American Gods and didn't finish it (I remember being freaked out by some weird death/sex scene), although I did enjoy Gaiman's Neverwhere
Dan: you gotta read Astonishing X-Men. I would back up Jeff and Alex's sentiments that it's a great place to start with comics, since I hadn't read any before coming to it. The artwork's amazing, and the dialogue is just as fresh and witty as Buffy.
Oh, and anyone else got a spare Wii? Mine gone stolen recently in an obscenely long and complicated series of events involving lots of parties in my house while the whole of my family was in New York. I miss Mario Strikers....:(

Wow, TRS just keeps getting better and better. Can you be in love with a show? Because if so, I am. A few quick mentions...
1. Best intro ever. I won't lie, I was swayed by the "man ass".
2. Dan needs to quit suggesting comics. I love many of the titles he has mentioned before but am running out of time to read them. Please Dan, no more?!
3. I couldn't have agreed more with the review of Stardust. I was looking forward to seeing it and was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved it.
And finally...
You made me glow Jeff, you made me glow.
