Obviously DD and rose aren't that enthused to do another ep, as you can tell by the end of the 4th. I am not looking to disect why they dont care (prob dont see the huge following - btw I am not from the states - and I hope these guys understand that this show is spreading all around our college like crazy...this show is official underground sh!t over here).
anyways...there should be a thread for hacks on demand (HOD)...since there isnt and these guys arent telepathic or whatever, I figured id set it up. this thread is for hacks that we'd like to see them do or have them put their own spin on.
just please dont pollute the damn thread with corrections and websites to find info for other ppl just because you think your a leet hacker or some sh!t. THIS IS JUST US GIVING IDEAS TO DD and ROSE.
so the question now is why have the thread...and that answer is simple and EASY...-> so we can see what we want and not something we dont care about.
second...we should bump this thread to the top every now and then and/or get it stickied. a simple but effective bump is the word 'bump' just in case no one knows or is overtly happy in using annoying icon smilies.
so we should keep on adding ideas until they get used in the show...then you personally remove them when they do get used in an episode.
remember keep posting new hack ideas and please no conversation...just so its easy for them to review it.

I would like to see them make a garage door opener with dial that changes the pin settings so that it can open most garage doors.
Also, .M., i think it would be better if you contained your ideas to one (or a few) posts. There is no real reason to triple and quad post, atleast IMO. Great thread tho.

There was actually an episode on the screen savers a very long time ago where Kevin setup a computer in the studio and invited all the hackers to hack it and just leave a sign such as a "new desktop icon" labled hacked.
Two days went by and no one had acheived the goal... then Comcast their ISP upset and told them they needed to take it down. Kevin and everyone else said a few short words about they didnt like Comcast lol.

Hmm, like the idea; however I don't think its possible. Keyless entry systems (FOBS) run on a rolling code. It would take expert knowledge to be able to create a FOB that would work with your car. This is a security measure. Without the rolling code, anyone could make a FOB that opens up my Vette and cruise away.

I have to agree that alot of these ideas do... well... suck, but atleast they are getting put out there. The CID spoofing idea seemed good to me. The reason that I am not posting ideas is that I might be making an IPTV show of my own, and I wouldn't want to ruin it for you guys.
@nathan1313us I wish that you would have taken a little more mature approach at your post. Also, just becuase Kevin Rose and DD don't know about something now, doesn't mean they couldn't learn enough to produce a show.
I am doubting that Kevin knew exactly how to make quality cables but he was able to bring in a specialist; same with the Asterisk.

I really like the bits where they hack games consoles.
They do it in such an easy step by step way even dumb guys like me can do it. I find using thier guide (in video form) a lot easier to follow than reading online text guides.
I would like to see them do something with other types of hardware like DVD, HDDVD, Bluray, amps anything hardware based.
Or even open up a PC and add hardware and software.
I know that stuff doesn't suit a lot of people on this forum as some want them to do more hardcore stuff but I am sort of dumb with this stuff and find their guides easy to follow :D

you can find a ton of guides for this on the internet or just fiddle with older systems so if you do f*ck it up, doesnt cost much. i like it when they just mess around in the broken, the last episode was good but nothing on the first 3 there pure genuis ramzi is my god :P

i have hacked direct tv befor it was easy but then they made it all hard and shit it use to be that you got a plug for your pc that u would insert the card u got with your box u would download a program and it would make the card think that you are authorized for all the channels and ppv and stuff but then they made the program harder and harder to find when they updated the generations of the cards witch sucked cuz i missed all my free ppv

I would in interesting in knowing how I can hack my car stereo(4 years old), without buying a new one to play MP3s from a hard drive and having some type of media controller/visualizer for the song thats playing.
I know that may be a little expensive and maybe too much car emphasis, but it would be cool to know.

Being annoying isn't going to get .M. banned and we aren't going to ban him just for being a post whore.
Unless he is actively spamming, then there's not much else we can do.
Something you can do is add him to your ignore list ... click on his username, go to his profile, and then you will see an option to add him in. Worth a try.

I have to agree now, these ideas are terrible.
"Hack and iPod" - That covers so many things, be specific.
"How to get a free laptop" - Do you think companies like Lenovo and Dell would exist if you didn't have to pay for a laptop.
Also, on a side note, the name of this thread makes no sense. Who's for making a new thread, a real suggestion thread.

Yeah that open a PC up idea was stupid and way to simple. But hacking an iPod sounds really cool.

I really think they should show how to reformat a TiVo so you can use it with other providers. I have Direct TV box, but I switched to cable, and I have a paperweight now.

Definitely more social engineering. I think showing some actual web hacks would be cool, I don't know what the newest big hack is but maybe show some SQL injection and different methods of doing it, maybe show a tutorial on buffer-overflows...just more programming-esque aspects of the hacker on top of the cool hardward hacks they always do.

I'm all for a forum supporting basic hacking and social hacking instructions. I have my own web server and considered putting up a forum for that purpose but I chickened out. The reasons are several:
1) Bandwidth, if the site gets popular, someone's gonna make it their homepage and other's will scan and link to it all of which are gonna eat up a lot of bandwidth. This is particularly a problem for me since i'm not supposed to be running a server on my connection in the first place. Thus video hosted from the server is out of the question. There's ways around this but it's a roadblock nonetheless.
2) Legal, there's tons of things I have and would to share openly. Trick is, on an open site, there's going to be a whistleblower, or a search engine's index will give you away. Personally, I can't keep track of what's ok to say and do and how you must phrase thigns. Additionally, when that changes, you have to go back and mod old posts. Finally, if you get noticed, someone can take you to court on a number of vague claims and still win if you're causing enough of a fuss. Again, there's ways around it, but it's a hassle. There's plenty of private sites or bulletin boards and irc chats that are restricted that are a paradise of "black-white-grey-red-whatev-hat-ery". trick is getting in.
3)Finally, i'm a lazy wuss. Man (or woman) cannot live by hackery alone, usually. Most people with things to share have something to loose as well. Putting up a site like that could quickly require plenty of maintenence and monitoring. It would get hacked frequently and require frequent restores from backups. Additionally, someone could get in to my LAN and steal tons of personal things or delete my life, more or less, tough, very tough, but possible. Finally, my server is already serving a purpose and it's legit. I don't want a source of income and contact slowed down or broken because of another site on the same machine. As always, there's ways around this, but it requires money or lots of time, and why bother? where's the motivation?
sorry, but it's true. If someone has the time and resources to do it, i'll gladly support them, but my hunch is most people who can are in the same boat and are without sufficient motivation.
