...everyone who works there should be beat to death with cocks.

Your not picking up Dresden Files for a second season?

Oh let me guess, you need that money to make your 12th movie involving a giant snake?

Or, I know, to hire another Baldwin brother to fight more harpies!

No, die in the face, all of them.

News Flash! The people who work at the sci-fi channel think of sci-fan fans as niche' market, nothing more. They neither like nor respect either sci-fi fans or sci-fi in general. A basic cable channel like sci-fi is still making more money from subscriptions fees paid my cable companies than add revenue. Have you ever wondered by sci-fi doesn't run their best shows during sweeps? Anyway,even if a show become popular, it doesn't matter, they'll chancel if it isn't profitable.

You remember the days when they were putting out great sci-fi shows all the time? I remember back in high school every friday night was filled with some great TV.

I'm just not a fan of those cheap C made-for-tv movies... though my mom loves them for some reason.

They have to make another hit classic... Earthsea 2

I remember the good days when they had some kick ass anime. If not for Sci-Fi, I would of never been interested in anime series. But, they are nothing like they once were in my opinion. Unless you like cheesy sci-fi movies. Blech. If I see one more movie about a giant squid, I'm going to kick a gnome!

All their money is going towards making Jurassic Park 4.

I had a thread about who wants to be a superhero...but anyways...I feel like the half-ass everything. That could be a show that could be genuinely amazing...but they allow it to suck (although I still loved the first season). Also, their movies are crap. It makes me so angty...

NO, it's less than half an ass, it's quarter or third ass at the most.

I still watch Sci-Fi but I knew the channel was pretty much a shill when they started running wrestling. I have nothing for or against wrestling but it's most definitely not science fiction. Fiction yes, but no science there. BBC America seems to have better sci-fi these days. As for anime, if you get the AZNTV channel you can sometimes get some really interesting anime.

Doctor Who. <= great
Eureka <= great
BSG <= great
StarGate/SGA <= great
Painkiller Jane. <= watchable
Flash Gordon <= not winning me yet, but I'll watch/DVR it

Of those, all but Doctor Who are SciFi productions.

Its a shame about The Dresden Files. I enjoyed the show, and picked up the first of Butchers books because of it.

SciFi is not a network that is ever going to cater to everyone, it IS a niche market, but FFS - ECW?? Leave that sort of thing to Spike or G4.

I keep missing flash gordon...is it any good? I know they were trying for the same success as BG but I'm curious if they pulled it off or not.

Instead of being stranded on Mongo, Flash keeps bouncing back and forth between Mongo and Earth through rifts in space (over simplificaiton of the plot, but basically correct). This has the convenience of allowing them to film much of the show on "Earth", without the need for elaborate sets.

I have to take exception to this. Most of the shows you names are not produced by the Sci-fi channel but by other studios for Scifi Channel.

Same can be said for just about every TV show ... the intent was that they are all series produced for SciFi.

Again, BSG was originally pitched to NBC and rejected. Scifi picked it up after. Stargate started life on Showtime. It actually existed in syndication for years before Scifi was ever interested. I'm not saying that noone ar Scifi doesn't has an eye for good shows. I'm only saying that Sci-fi would not bat an eyelash about canceling their most popular and critically acclaimed shows if the bottom line wasn't there. They're not in it for the love of Sci-fi. It's a business.

I'm glad SG-1 is over now. The show really slipped from being any good pretty much the instant Atlantis started.

It's like "okay, we have a few new, fresh ideas, should we use those ideas on the show we're already making?"

"Nah, lets make a whole new show, and let the other show spin its wheels for 3 more years till it finally dies, then scavange the show for actors."

It would have been alot better for the franchise as a whole I think if they had skipped the whole Ori storyline and just moved part of the SG-1 team to Atlantis and just run the show from there for awhile.

Instead, now poor Ben Browder needs a job again after just a couple years.
