Hey Everyone!

Oni's Book Description
Twin brothers, Shawn and Sam, aren't typical kids — their grim dedication to metal isn't that unusual but their mysterious parentage sure is! Empowered by the legendary sword of Atoll, these kids are determined to battle however many demons it takes in order to fulfill the ancient prophecy of the Hell Baron! Infused with the ancient myth and high adventure of the music that inspired it, BLACK METAL is a truly epic tale.

Black Metal is a wonderful tongue-in-cheek look at two brothers who are absolutely on the outside of society looking in. Their fascination with Metal is more than a passing faze, it is their way of life. When the brothers get tricked by their foster mom into going to the mall (the mall is not Metal!) they stumble across a copy of FROST AXE (the heaviest of heavy metal bands straight from Norway). They race home and bring this new "vinyl offering" to their Metal alter (their giant speakered sound system).
Frost Axe sings of a Hades like place that has two Demons at war through all eternity. During the battle, a demon is slain and the Legendary sword of Atoll is lost forever. By songs end, the brothers are so blown away by the conclusion of this ancient tale that they refuse to let the music end there. They decide to play this album backwards... and with this act, their adventure truly begins. They learn alot about the music of Metal, their friends and family and their own lineage.
Rick Spears and Chuck BB love for their creation REALLY comes through. Their passion for music, mythology and pop culture as a whole is very fresh and welcomed. BLACK METAL absolutely knows "who it is" and doesn't try to copy or mimic what others have done before them. When you start reading this book, the energy that the creators have infused into it will carry you on a wonderfully silly journey that will make you want to break out the eyeliner and join in with our young heroes.
This is hands down one of the best Graphic Novels I have read in 2007. When it gets nominated for an Eisner next SDCC don't say I didn't warn you! :)
