Disclaimer : I work for vBulletin, so I can see how people think this is a biased spam post, but it really is not. I am a fan of rev3 and the shows and the forum here. This is a personal post, made simply by me as a rev3 member.

Ok, that's said then. vB just released (http://digg.com/software/vBulletin_Blog_1_0_0_Released) an addon to add a blog section to a forum, and it has been on my mind for a while. It's a bit hard to find 'posts' by the guys and girls who make the shows. I don't quite quickly find their entries. It would be cool if we can go to a blog here and find their upcoming events, news, comments, etc about shows.

Would rev3 add a blog to their forum here for the show hosts? I think that will be pretty cool. And pull us audience a bit closer inside the show with getting more info.

Host blogs would be super cool. But to be honest I think that blogs and forums should be separated. To be honest I can't see the point of the new vBulletin feature.

But as I said, I fully support the idea of the hosts having blogs! :)

To be honest I can't see the point of the new vBulletin feature. As a feature, I think the vBulletin idea is great. A blog is more than just a personal diary - it is a basic content management system (CMS) that is well used today ... and having a blog that links to a forum is perfect for managing the comment system.

Now as for Rev3 having blogs - I am only speculating - but I cna't see it happening.

Diggnation has digg.com (content), diggtheblog.com (content about the site), Pownce (which is more than a blog - but does serve as an announcement mechanism).
infected has sargeworld - if Martin pulls his finger out and gets it fixed
inDigital - Wil is an avid blogger already ... Hahn contributes to the forum regularly as well.
systm - with Patrick involved, a blog is kinda pointless. Ever see his personal web page ;)
GigaOm - is the podcast of Om Malik's website ... www.gigaom.com
iFanboy has its own website - www.ifanboy.com
XLR8R - has more than just a blog, it has a full website, and an honest to goodness dead tree media magazine :)
TRS - myspace, facebook, and the forums. For what the show is about, I think a blog gets kinda redundant.

So, great addition to vBulletin. Something I might consider for my own projects, but I can't see it being of immediate use for Rev3 (then again, I am but a lowly moderator ... and not privy to the inner thoughts of management).

Well don't think that it is a good idea to combine blogs and forums. I think vBulletin should just keep doing what they do best - forum software - and then let others (like WordPress) do the blog stuff :).

In regard to the rest of your post, I can see your point! Maybe I didn't think the whole host blog idea all the way through.

But still, it would be kinda neat to have some kind of unified Rev3 blog system, instead of relying on a whole bunch of third parties. Maybe except for GigaOM.
