I've been thinking about buying an iPod for a while now. It would be my first and only Apple product at the time of purchase, and I want to make sure I buy the right thing.

I have a small music collection of iTunes purchased music (1GB) and I usually watch Rev3 content, full screened on my laptop, and propped back in my chair so I probably wouldn't like the small screen. Which leads to me the iPod nano.

Should I buy the 4GB model for expansion in case I purchase more music or expand my library? I would like to take all my music with me at one time, and a screen is a must so the shuffle is out unless it's only like 20 songs while I'm outside excercising (running) or something similar.

I was thinking between green and blue also. So which size and color should I buy? 4GB and green is what I'm think about right now. What's your suggestion?

My opinion is that the nano is a waste. The 4gb version is $50 less than the 30gb, little smaller, and near 90% less capacity. If your whole motivation for the nano is not needing video, get a 4th gen. It's cheaper and has 20gbs of storage.

I was picking a new iPod a week ago. It was between the Nano and the 30GB. I went 30GB. I couldn't justify not spending a couple extra bucks to not get the bigger one. Nanos are cool but are so limited. Once it's filled, its filled. Your music collections continues to grow nd you are forced to choose. I rather have everything on my iPod.

Buy a 4GB mini
$99 http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/0.RSLID?mco=6BE1F9C9&nclm=Certified

Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather have something new than something refurbished. (I've had bad luck with refurbished items)

I would say get the 8 GB nano if you have the money..or if your family or friends can get you it for Christmas, or get the 30 Gb iPod Video*

*=Not really a true video iPod.

8GB comes in black and I loath black gadgets. Maybe if it was in the other colors also.
