OK, I know someone here will have an opinion.
My Logitech MX700 has died on me. Its not holding a charge, and unable to get a signal lock. Pretty much useless to me at the moment. Except as a pulsing red led sitting on my desk.
I work at my computer all day (luxury of working from home) - online for my job, editting docs, cutting code. I don't game on my laptop. Wireless is important - I have enough crap cluttering my desk without adding cords. Dead batteries in a mouse (in middle of a demo to clients) would be a disaster (slight exaggeration), so I am looking for a recharable mouse with a dock.
I am looking at something similar to the MX700, and noticed that OfficeMax have the MX1000 for $49.99 ($30 off MSRP) at the moment. $50 is a pretty good price point. I don't need a new keyboard (been using a wireless Logitech iTouch keyboard for years - and it is doing great), so a combo deal is not something I am looking for (unless it is too good to pass up).
Anyone use one? Opinions??

You haven't tried getting a new battery pack for the old mouse? Usually when something rechargeable won't hold a charge, it's the battery pack.
Poor battery performance could be causing the signal problem too.

I live in the south, so I guess there is always duct tape ...
I have an MX700 at work, which I love. I have that at work because at home I replaced it with a MX1000, which I love even more. If you're going to get a new mouse, I highly endorse the MX1000.

I've got a mouse problem too.. it's a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0
and the left click button always tries to double click everything
it's pretty irritating

Double check your mouse settings in the control panel. Otherwise, uninstall the mouse drivers and reinstall them again.

Ironically. Many MAC power-users toss out their factory mouses for Miicrosoft mouses.

I'm going to have to ask you to only post these questions in the appropriate forums... thank you.

I asked a geek for tech support.
I did it as an individual post.
I didn't do it as part of a larger post which was offtopic.
I would have posted it in another area EXCEPT that I knew the Dromies would have an answer (or at least an opinion) AND that they never leave the comfort of their own room to ask/answer a question.
For the record, I picked up an MX1000 at OfficeMax this morning ($49 inc instant rebate ... WalMart had the MX610 for $49 ... so getting the MX1000 for the same price was a no brainer). Happy with it so far, but it is going to take some getting used to - the shape is a little different to my old MX700.

Isn't this in the wrong forum?? I'm told there is a technical help forum on rev3 somewhere.
I never venture out from home.

so we should have to clutter up our forums with individual posts every time someone has a tech question that they want to ask here, instead of one consolidated thread for tech questions now AND in the future? Does this mean you're going to close the "Ask a Dromette" thread too... I mean geekdrome isn't really about girls and everyone could get this help elsewhere.
AND I got your second PM, but like I said, I refuse to handle this privately... this is something all of use take issue with. No one is "stirring up trouble" as you put it... if we are all willing to have a certain thread and post in it then it is relevant to Geekdrome!

Come on guys. It's not his fault the other forums are dead as doornails.
Help the man out.
What are some of the best places, other then the Apple Store, to purchase a Mac? Thoughts?
And yes. Geekdrome is the shit.

The MX700 has rechargable batteries, but it isn't a good sign when the battery cover door has warped/shrunk from the heat, and the plastic wrap around the batteries is shrivled. Definately time for a new mouse - so thats what I did.

My MX700 was about 3 years old. Used in normal conditions, kept on the cradle most of the time when it wasn't in use (ie overnight). No idea why it went belly up on me. Its not like it had Sony batteries in it.

I started a thread in the Geekdrome forum asking for some quick advice on the replacement for my dead Logitech MX700, and ended up getting a great deal on the MX1000.
If anyone has used this mouse for gaming I would be interested in an opinion.

What games do you play? And why don't they make games for Macs?

I am not a big PC gamer anymore (but am open to suggestions). I use my chipped Xbox more.
I still enjoy Diablo I/II - take them away with me when I travel ... the MX700 was always kinda slow in those games though.
... and they don't make games for Macs because .... ummm ... Mac users are pacifist chamomile tea drinkers and want the world to be peaceful and artfully rendered in shades of melon, peach, and blueberry ... or they are too busy getting an iLife to have time for games :)
