If you haven't played it yet, Knights of the Old Republic is probably the pinnacle of Star Wars games. Certainly of the newer generating systems. It had a PC version, but I'm not sure you can still get it in stores. Actually, now that you mention it, I might have to go into the hell hole that is Gamestop and pick me up a used copy of that game. It's just fun.

Some of those Jedi Outcast/Academy games were kinda fun just for the Lightsaber fights, but they seemed to be hit or miss to me.

And of course there's the Lego Star Wars titles. Mindless fun and young humor, but they seem to still have a lot of in jokes for the fans.

Anyway, I'm definitely going to pick this up when it drops. April's a long ways away though.

Correct, no Wii version.

However, expect the Wii to get a game that features lightsabers in the future. Lucasarts already have a working prototype in their offices.

So glad they changed their mind and are making a Wii version, here's some new info...

- Swing Wiimote to attack with lightsaber (direction matters, but motion is not 1:1)
- motion controls for force powers
- push Nunchuck forward while holding a trigger to use Force Push
- full motion control details are still being worked out

...so is it Spring 2008 like the trailer said, or Summer 2008 like the page said?

Based on past experiences with Wii versions of multiplatform games, I don't care if you can feel like your swinging a lightsaber, I'm going with the 360 version. The graphics will probably suck and the controls likely will not feel natural.

You have quite a few selections on PC, as mentioned Jedi Outcast/Academy, Knights of the Old Republic I/II; then you have Republic Commando, Empire At War, and to through it back you got Dark Forces, X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and if you download a N64 emulator you can play Shadows of the Empire. Finally you have Battle Front 2 for PC/PS2.

Lucas arts released a best of box on PC with 5 games which comes with Knights I, Republic Commando, Battle Front 1, Empire At War, and 14day free trial of Star Wars Galaxy.

you don't need an emulator for Shadows of the Empire. It's available for the PC, although why you'd want to play it is beyond me, it wasn't very good:

Personally I was a big fan of X-Wing Alliance, it was the logical successor to Tie Fighter.

Still if you're looking for a Force unleashed style game I would think Jedi knight is as close as you're going to come.

I can't wait for this game. Jedi Knight had really fun online multiplayer on the PC. Lightsaber duels were great.

I can't wait for this one - after Alex showed the trailer on Diggnation a couple episodes ago, I've been majorly stoked. (I've kind of actually never played any Star Wars games, other than kind of sort of playing Dark Forces a billion years ago)

Aside: I think my husband still has his shirt somewhere in the house that I got him from LucasArts that proclaims "I Conquered Dark Forces". XD

I will most likely get the 360 version, but I've been hearing that the Wii version isn't that bad. I've been excited for this game for the last year or so since I saw the tech demo. I think the game started mainly as a tech demo where he did different things with the force.

Anyone know what happened to the Indiana Jones game that's been going on for awhile now? It's not the Lego game, but based on a lot of the same mechanics as Force Unleashed. I remember reading an article on it a long time ago, and still interested to see what's going on with it.

You know, I was mildly interested when I saw that trailer before...but that article turned it into a must get...

And this coming from someone who isn't big into star wars and the only star wars games I've played were the Lego ones.

I'm not a huge Star Wars film fan, but I love the light saber duels, so I'm excited for this game. The tech demos are what really impressed me, with Euphoria and the one that renders the material of the objects realistically.

If the Wii version ends up reviewing well for solid controls, I'll probably be getting both the Wii version and one for the next-gen systems.

Digital Molecular Matter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Molecular_Matter) or DMM.

And I agree with you, I don't normally get very excited about the more hardcore tech side of games but combine these very cool looking systems with crazy force powers and the force unleashed had me at hello.

A nice video giving some more info on the game, especially the Wii version and why one to one mapping with the Wiimote wouldn't have worked well:
