So the other day I got an offer to go on a trip to Thailand for three weeks. It would cost quite a lot, but I was planning to buy a new iMac and it turns out the prices of a vacation in Thailand and a new iMac are pretty much the same...

So what would you do? Go to Thailand (with someone you don't really know) and forget about a new computer for another year, or buy that new iMac and stay at home?

I vote iMac.

You can go "virtually" anywhere you want in the whole wide world with an iMac!

Then again, I'm a total geek and I'd much rather have a computer over... just about anything and everything. I might think about it a little harder if it was either having a new pc or a gf though. lol

Thats a pretty tough call. I love to travel and as far as traveling goes, especially if its cross-nation traveling, its one of the best experiences you'll have in your life. But... a new iMac is pretty sweet also. You could stream hi-res images and video from anywhere in the world.

Decisions, decisions....

Screw iMacs, you'll cherish your time in Thailand forever! There will always be an opportunity to get a computer, this is a once in a lifetime chance! Don't make a mistake that will haunt you until the day you die, go to Thailand!

But traveling with almost a stranger is kinda weird, although, doing things on your own can be quite rewarding. You'll definitely get more from your Thailand experience I think.

Traveling abroad is something a lot of people don't do, but more should. So if you have the chance to, do it.

Mm.. Yes, I had to choose between Comicon or a 360... I chose Comicon but wish I had a 360 sitting by me right now.

I'd choose the trip, but if you really need an iMac (for school purposes or whatever), then go for what you need. But if they're both more luxuries, then definitely the trip.

How much do you not know this person? Is there a chance they will kidnap you and sell you off to some prostitution ring? From your avatar picture I'd say you'd probably fetch a high price. Will they maybe drag you into a dark alleyway and steal one of your kidneys?

I'd go for Thailand. I take it you have a computer right now. Seeing as your posting. Tho, you may be posting from a library or a friends house or something.

You don't know when you'll have the chance to go to Thailand again. If ever. But IMacs are always being sold on Apple's website.

I vote iMac.

Sure, going on the trip may change your life but it may also go badly and when it's over you're likely to not have much to show for it.

The iMac is a sure thing, guaranteed to give you plenty of pleasure, good times and help with your business for years to come.

Plus I hate to travel so I may be biased. :P

Thailand - Fullmoon Party

Though going with a stranger might be odd.

Computers come and go, hell i have owned 3 in the last 4 years, but haven't once traveled over seas. A trip to Thailand, for most people, is a once in a lifetime deal, even if the trip ends up being totally lame, the experience alone is worth it.

My vote = Thailand

My dad just got back from Thailand. He went by himself for the most part, but I guess he really had a blast. American money is worth a lot there. I think 34 cents to a bot. He did wish he had someone to go with, because a lot of the trips kind of require another person so a plus if you got someone with you. If you got some time learn some sayings and you can haggle prices down cheap. I could probably tell you more if you'd like to know. My s/n should be in my profile.

Even I am a Mac fanboy, I think traveling overseas would be a great experience. You can get a new Mac whenever later, a similar spec will only get cheaper and cheaper in the future. Also it is always a wise choice to get a revision B Mac instead of the revision A.

I have been to Thailand twice, personally I think three weeks for Thailand would be too much...unless you enjoy and are going to stay on the beach everyday:rolleyes:

that's Jeff's answer to everything.

I would go Thailand if you are good at making experiences positive. If, however, you have never really enjoyed travelling and can't see the trip turning out well...computers are fun.

But again, going out in the world and doing things is how you create stories, and computers are where you read them. pick your role.

Okay, I should have put it more clearly why I'm having so much doubts.
This person who I would travel with is a girl I met on friday in a bar...
She was talking about a trip she was going to make on her own to Thailand. I asked her 'What? Are you travelling alone?' and she answered 'You want to come with me?'

So I don't know this person at all, and I'm not that adventurous... (Otherwise I would go to London on my own to see the TRS guys ;) )

Luckily my friends all reacted saying I shouldn't travel this far with someone I don't know, and now we've made plans to go to Milan for a weekend, another weekend to Lisbon and a week in Holland. (and I can probably combine this with a new mac)

Thanks for all your reactions! I kind of expected everybody to react like Jeff, but it was nice to see other opinions too!
