If anyone here is into martial arts films, you really need to check some of these out. Killzone is pretty good. No, not the video game. They have also released special editions of Jackie Chan's Police Story 1 and 2 and just recently Hard Boiled. Hard Boiled isn't a special edition. So if any of you fellow geeks are into martial arts movies, check out Dragondynasty.com. I wonder if the Totally Rad Dudes are into Martial arts films.

ha i just ordered KillZone and the Infernal Affairs trilogy on Thursday from amazon, they should be here soon. I have the Hard Boiled edition they released which is good but i wish the commentary was with someone envolved in the film. Tony Jaa's Protector was also released by Dragon Dynasty, its a good action flick but i think the story is really weak. I plan on buying Police Story and Crime Story.

I wanted to see The Protector but never got around to it. Tony Jaa is so kick ass but Ong Bak was kind of boring. The action was good but who wants to watch a movie you have to skip through? Police Story is awesome of course. Killzone was really good. I'm sure some people won't like it but I loved it.

OH! I almost forgot! What is up with Hard Boiled!!! No special features!!! I was so pissed. A friggin' commentary by Bey Logan? C'mon!...Ok I'm calm now.

yea, the extras were nothing special.

Have you seen The Infernal Affairs? Its the story The Departed is based off and a lot of people thinks its better than the Departed. Tony Leung is in the 1st and 3rd one, so thats what drew me to it. Amazon has the trilogy for $30, so i couldn't resist.

i picked up Police Story yesterday but have not yet watch all the special features. There is an interview with Jackie that is really good. I watched a little of the interview with his stunt team for the movie, it is ok but nothing special. The commentary is by Brett Ratner, so i don't know how thats going to be.

Commentary by Brett Ratner? ??? WTF? He was in high school when Police story was made. Plus, he's an idiot.

Police Story 1, 2 and Project A 1 and 2, are some of the best old Jackies.
What's 'special' about these editions of Police Story? .. speaking of Police Story, I just saw 'New Police Story'. For a Jackie Chan film I was pretty damn surprised how many people were murdered and straight up bullet riddled in 'realistic' ways. Drunken Master 2 had some of the most violent fighting I'd ever seen in a Jackie film, this had a few great martial arts moments, but it had tonnes of people getting sprayed by bullets. I was kinda shocked. Me love martial arts films, .. . . .. long time.

Try watching ALL of Jackie Chans movies. Go back to the beginning and see how many you are ok with FFing through plotline. There's at least 50 of them out there. You can get alot of his old ones as double features on DVD - Half a Loaf of Kung-Fu, Master with Cracked Fingers, Laughing Hyena, etc.. . . .

Ong Bak wasn't bad. Tony Jaa can't really act, but you got to give it to the supporting actor in Ong Bak, 'humlei', who got uber hurt in the end, he acted his butt off. The story wasn't bad, predictable, better than alot of other martial arts storylines.

Speaking of Tony Jaa, did you guys see The Protector?

He cared more that they stole his elephant than he did they shot his dad. :p

I think I care more about my elephant as well. Don't you?...freak....anyway, New Police Story was cool. It is a little different but change is good sometimes. I've got Infernal Affairs on my Netflix queue so I can't wait for that. Just saw The Departed and loved it! I'm sure the original is much better. Tony Leung was in Hard Boiled right?

I think both the guys in Infernal Affairs 1, were in Hero. No...wait maybe, no Andy Lau was in House of Flying Daggers, and Tony Leung was in Hero.

Yea. He was also in Bullet in the Head, which is another John Woo movie thats a must see.

And like Heyseuss said, Leung is in also in Hero with Donnie Yen who is in KillZone.

I haven't seen Donnie Yen in anything other than Shanghai Knights, Killzone, Hero, and I think Iron Monkey. Is he in anything really worth watching? Wait, I think I'll ask my friend Google....****er knows everything.

alright Killzone and the Infernal Affairs trilogy finally arrived from amazon. it took 10 freakin days and it was not free shipping.

Alright i knew that Dragon Dynasty does not sell Infernal Affairs #1 but i figured in the trilogy it would be a Dragon Dynasty disc, but it is the original Miramax disc. So it does not look good in the box set since its two matching cases then the Miramax one.

And does anyone know what the numbers mean on the spine of the case? I thought it was the order of when the disc were released but when i got Killzone today it was #1 on it. I think Protector was the first one they released and it has #2 on it. Police Story 1 and 2 do not have consecutive numbers but Infernal Affairs 2 and 3 do have consecutive numbers. I was just wondering, if anyone knows, please share.

Beats me! I thought they were numbered in order of release too. That sucks. Seven Swords looks kick ass. I saw an 8 Disc (YES EIGHT DISCS!) set at Best Buy but I wasn't sure if I should buy it or not 'cause I haven't seen it yet. Anyone else think Tony Jaa is the next kick ass martial artist/ movie star? Jackie Chan is awesome but he's getting old. Tony Jaa seems like the next in line. He just needs a really good movie to be in.

It's not on his IMDB so it might not be true, but i read that he turned down Rush Hour 3 to be in the new Indiana Jones movie. So that would be a really big movie for him to be in, if its true.

Not really. He's cool and all, and his style is different and pretty real. But all his movies are fairly similar. Not to say that Jackie's aren't, just some more meat. Plus, Tony seems to use all the same actors (the Protector has at least 5 of the same cast as The Bodyguard and Ong Bak, tight budget ??).

I'm definitely getting Seven Swords (not buying it, just the other way of getting it).

While Tony Jaa is the martil art5s star of the film, he would look stupid without a well trained supporting cast to get hit by him. The stunt team works together more often then on the film.

And stop saying Tony Jaa's KungFu, he is a traditional Muay Thai artist.

alright i was wrong, Killzone was the first dvd they put out so i am going back to my original guess and saying the numbers on the spine do represent the order they were released.

I just got done watching Killzone and i dont know how i feel a bout it. There was not many fight scenes but they were good when they happened. I dont want to spoil anything but man, it's a depressing movie.

I didn't say he was Kung Fu... ??

In Flash Point it seemed like a mix between Judo and Muay Thai.

I have to say though that Jet Li's Once Upon a Time in China was my first martial arts style film. And it kicked ass. Then the Legend... just awesome.

I'd have to say though, the next big hit would be Donnie Yen. He was also in Hero. Collin Chou, who was the final fight scene of Flash Point was Seraph (Oracles bodyguard), which Neo spared with, in the Matrix Reloaded. He was also in Fearless.

NO, you didn't say kungfu, someone else did.

I haven't heard of Collin Chou, but will see Fearless soon. I've never heard of Flash Point either.

Donnie Yen is old and already accomplished. He's not going to get any bigger. Once Upon A Time is a great flick, so are the 2 after it, not as good as the first but good. Tsui Hark is good.

I loved Killzone! I was expecting way more fight scenes but it is a good movie. Although I hated HATED the end. You know what I'm talkin' about...;)
Anyone else love that scene in Ong Bak where Tony Jaa knocks out that guy with one hit? You know where he gets his knee all the way to the side of the guys head? ****in' awesome.....

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR FLASH POINT*

So basically there's a HK Mafia family infiltrated by one undercover, not the main character. The main character is also a police officer/investigator for an HK department. They are friends. The undercover gets found out at one point and all hell breaks loose. So the main mafia guy gets thrown in jail on different charges. While he's in there people start getting killed by his thugs/brothers. Then they go after the undercover and his family. Big mistake, the main character is now in vengeance mode...

If you guys like Tony Jaa's fighting style, you should watch the sport of Muay Thai. It's the sweet science, with 8 limbs. Muay Thai is probably the most effecient and effective striking martial art style, other than Krav Maga, which Alex I think briefly mentioned while trying to interpret Dan's ramblings.

Here's a highlight reel of one of my fav MT fighters. He's not the best thai boxer around, however, I think you can see, very quickly, what makes him so special. The vid is kinda badly edited, but it's worth watching til the end. Stay til the end and watch him land 1 kick twice in slomo, on a man 5 times bigger than him. He's about 5'3 170 pounds and lighter, and he's fought a man 7'2 353 pounds.
