It's our 96th episode and one man's gone, one man's stuffed up, and one man... well, he's pretty much normal.

We discuss Ron's Pick of the Week for August 31, 2007:

Hey, could you guys add the timestamp (http://www.ifanboy.com/archive/weblog/can_one_podcast.html) on iFanboy proper to the show info on iTunes?

Get's a bit burdensome having to switch in out of my browser while working. Good show tough.

The fight between Liefield and Morales was sparked off when Liefield intimated Morales was as amateur "who took 12 years to get a job" (Identity Crisis). Morales called Liefield an artistic retard and it spun from there.

Not saying it wasn't unprofessional of them; but that's what started the name calling and such between Leifield & Morales.

p.s. Huge Rags Morales fan myself. Those Rucka/Rags Wonder Woman issues with the J.G. Jones covers were gold (WW #219!). But that dust up on the forums was so unnecessary.

Enjoying the podcast. You guys should definitely be reading the Goon. Looking forward to meeting Powell in October. Love that you slipped in a Rudolf allusion.

good show guys

re: the leifeld/morales thing

It's worth reading through to get to the point where Rags Morales accuses Rob Leifeld of not even knowing what a wrist looks like.

I just went back and read this and I've got to say that was some of the most unprofessional and juvenile fighting I've ever seen. After reading that thread, it makes me appreciate this sight that much more.:D

was Ron referring to the recent Mike Vick argument on our forum or Conor and Josh's argument on the Newsarama board after that one voice mail?

Neither. He was refering to the Rob LIefeld/Rags Morales argument on Newsarama.

no I mean when he said "it's easy to get in an argument online, you'd know that" or something along those lines

Ah. He wasn't referring to anything specifically, rather the universal truth that it's easier to get into an arguement on-line than it is in person.

No it's not... you two are really wrong on that point.

Sorry I couldn't resist. :D

It was much funnier thinking about our recent conflict :)

I couldn't believe it when he was the one who got unbanned. It was quite hilarious, but damn, that was a terribly unproffesional career move.

Great show as always.

I've been posting all over and I can't get any love for the recent SIlver Surfer Mini. I figured Ron (being the Marvel Guy) would have said something bout it.

Keep up the awesome work guys. Looking forward to 100.

Good luck finding someone that actually read it. Most people shy away from JMS.
That being said, I really liked the series. I thought it was an extremely fitting ending for the Surfer. The Galactus stuff was perfection.

I'm not huge into Spiderman so I haven't read much JMS, but why does everyone hate him? Is it just his work on Spiderman?
I've liked the first couple of issues of Thor so far.

How did he become a front line writer if so many readers shy away?

Thanks

A lot of answers can be found here. (http://www.revision3.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4074)

But in a nutshell, for me it's his Amazing Spider-Man and Bullet Points. And the second half of Rising Stars.

I'd say it's pretty much the same reasons I'm not a fan. He has some really great concepts and ideas, but he just can't seem to follow through with them.
His stories remind me of Saturday Night Live sketches. They can start out really strong, and then 5 minutes later your looking at your watch wondering when it will end. Then when it finally does end, you can't even remember why you liked the sketch at the beginning.
JMS=SNL

I am glad I wasn't the only one completely confused by Mouse Guard.

The weird perspective shifts killed me....along with the jumps in time.

You should have taken a step back and had a third party review your post from an unintiated outsider's prospective to make sure it wasn't too far inside your head.

True...I knew how it was going to end and didn't set up the beginning well.

Hehe. Jonathan London seemed to enjoy Mice Templar and the Last Fantastic Four Story on the recent Geekscape episode.

It's amusing that Geekscape and iFanboy are one another's bizarro (Jon /= Powers, iFanboy <3 Powers) show now.

Kind of unrelated, but this reminds me of a few months back when Geekscape and TRS both reviewed Live Free or Die Hard and Johnathan loved it and Danny hated it, really made me miss the Drome…

But to make this more on topic… Mice Templar was sold out at my shop last week. I can't wait to get it because the art looks fantastic, but I can't say that I'm surprised to hear that the story may not be up to par.

I'm not that surprised that Jonathan liked those books - there's no accounting for taste :)

But on Mice Templar- I see the potential, and I wanted to like it - the art was great, something I don't think we highlighted enough on the podcast - it really was - I'll keep buying it because I like Oeming and the concept etc.

I love the Mouse Guard hardcover, and am looking forward to the next. These are the kinds of books I can keep out on the shelf and let my future kids read. I was tempted by Mouse Templar, and figured I'd wait to see if it got the same hardcover treatment. But maybe I'll skip out on it. Hmm.

Good stuff about Adventures and Teen Titans. Maybe I'll pick those up.
