So, I'm sitting here reading the TPB of The Dark Phoenix Saga that I borrowed form my local library about 2 weeks back, and I'm really enjoying it until I notice that the entire scene has changed from one page to the next. After scanning the page for a bit, I realized that the page number has jumped and my eye catches scraps of paper clinging to the spine of the comic. Somebody ripped the pages out! About 20 pages later, I notice another missing page, right at a very key point of the book. This sucks.

Why do people rip pages out of a book, and return it to the library? Why doesn't anyone report it so the book can be replaced? I've only seen ripped pages in library books when I was a kid, and even though some little snot is probably responsible for this trespass, I can't get past the level of disrespect someone has to have to just do this and put it back like nothing happened. Has anyone else read a book from the library and at the point where you're the most into the story, be interrupted by missing pages?

Dunno what to tell you, except that people are dicks and the less they pay for something, they less they respect it.

I borrowed an Ultimate X-Men volume from one of my local libraries and someone had cut out the faces of certain characters (like Quicksilver) on *several* pages. Made the story so difficult to follow in certain parts that I eventually just downloaded the damned issue.

This is the reason the internet is becoming so superior. People go to places like Bookswim because it has greater selection, and people aren't assholes with the books. People go to Netflix because its a lot easier to deal with than people at the video store, and you rarely here of a Netflix DVD that's scratched or broken. Same goes for Ebay, etc. etc.
