We were expecting 12, but it seems that Mario Kart on the Wii will have 16 player online racing!

The kid just read this over my shoulder and started to squeal. Great, now I have a headache and no TRS show.

And wouldn't it be awesome if we could get 16 forumites to race?

I loved the DS game, so if the controls aren't messed up with on the Wii, I'll probably love this game too.

Hmm maybe this game and playing some Mario cart with my forum buddies is the reason for me to dust off my Wii.

Man I really have to stop quoting text from Livva and saying things like dust off my Wii.

I really haven't been playing games much lately but this is pretty cool. I have the DS game and the VC 64 game. I would first have to make sure they didn't screw anything up before I get it though. I love Mario Kart, but apparently not as some people I know. Two games I'm getting regardless is Phantom Hourglass (I think I already fully preordered it, I have to check since it was last year) and Super Mario Galaxy. The MK franchise has been pretty good though so I don't think this game will be a let down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the next online Mario Kart Competition (in June) Nintendo will by releasing a brand new track/stage based on Mario Galaxy.
The new stage is set in space and will feature one of those spinning top enemies from Mario Galaxy. I assume you'll have to either ram it of the stage or hit it with weapons and it'll be a 'boss battle' rather then a race.

Pics of the new stage here:

The stage will be released around 1st June and will be available until 10th June.
In order to access the new content you need the Mario Kart Channel installed and WiiConnect24 enabled on your Wii (should have an orange light rather then red in standby).

Downloadable tracks w00t! Awesome news.

I would love Nintendo to release the whole backlogue of old MK (Mario Kart, not Mortal Kombat :P) tracks over DLC. Now that would be rad. I love idea of Mario Galaxy themed tracks though, hopefully there will be some messing with gravity etc in there too like MK Wii.

So wish I had this right now. My mate ordered me a copy for my birthday and it's still not arrived...Mind you it allows me time to finish LostWinds which is really pushing all my buttons right now.

Apparently even the best racers using manual powerslide cannot compete with auto. That's pretty shocking Nintendo!

If you use the automatic setting you only get one level of boost, rather than two with manual.

It's pretty damning though that even with that, auto wins everytime.
