Hi guys,
Actually, that's a mistake on our part and needs to be fixed. The Revision3 Gazette is a feature for members only, not because we want to leave anyone out, but because we want to give our members more reasons to love us!
For those of you who can watch, I hope you enjoy it. Membership has its benefits. :)

I just watched it and thought it was great, really nice to get some behind the scenes stuff. It finally got me to pony up and becoming a paying member. Hopefully I won't regret that.
However, is there any reason that it isn't avaliable as a download? I can only see it in the flash player, which is fine. But i'd rather be able to download the content and view it on my xbox or in the media player of my choosing on my computer... especially if I am paying for it.
Either way great show, loving it and hoping for much more to come.

It's probably because they don't want mirror sites offering it for free.

That was pretty rad. I am glad that members are finally getting more exclusive stuff.
Like undisclosedpower said, why isn't it available for download? I could understand if it's to stop "piracy", but for some of us *cough*me*cough* it's way more sluggish to watch it via the Flash player with our laptops from 2004.
Other than that, I'm looking forward to the next episodes.

It was great to see Sarah Lane again on video, glad to see she has bounced back from the depths of hell called G4TV. I must admit, I'm pretty pleased that the best of TechTV is now working for Revision3 (Martin, Sara, Kevin, Patrick). I'd love to see Adam and Morgan join the team as well, but alas, they are the only ones holding together that other station.
Best of luck to everyone at Revision3 and thanks for starting to add some additional value to being a member.

Oh, yes, the other thing I was wondering, since I assume this is going to be weekly, is it always going to be released on the same day and time every week?
Also just because its in flash, I don't see how that stops someone from mirroring it? I seem to remember that somebody use to mirror the diggnation flash file at some point... but maybe i'm remebering incorectly?

Not wanting to sound like some one who is advocating the "pirating" of member only content....
But....
I've been a viewer of Diggnation from the beginning and watch pretty much half of all revision3 shows. I don't watch the other half because I don't like them. I'm guessing that I would be the kind of viewer that you guys would like to become a member. I don't care enough about getting shows early, so I wouldn't subscribe for that reason.... However I might for some good exclusive content. But for me to want to do that, I would have to know what I'm getting for my money. Wouldn't it make sense release the first "Gazette" to everyone to get them on board?
Otherwise I'll check this show out somewhere else or youtube or something. I pretty much have no choice.... I'm not going to spend cash on a sight unseen show.

I refuse to think that things are that destitute over at Revision3 while those fossil biscuits go uneaten.
On the other hand, I think it's pretty unreasonable for a person who is unwilling to supply the requested donation to expect to be given any shred of media without obligation on the grounds that they are a loyal fan.
I refuse to accept that any person capable of using pay-pal can reasonably refuse $5/month.
Five dollars is such a small amount. I think that most people who object to paying it are doing so merely on principle. However, I don't seem to understand any principle on which this seems to be based, other than the ubiquitous culture of grabbing free stuff off the net. I guess I'm guilty of snagging a "free" download from time-to-time.
However, I also participate in a culture of giving. I give to revision 3 and some other podcast networks. I also donate hundreds of dollars a year to cancer research.
Heck, when I'm spending $60/month on diapers. Sixty dollars per year just doesn't seem that important to save.
I understand that point of view, but I know I can remember when $5/month was tough for me.

That's absolute rubbish. And a very ignorant view. It may be a small amount for you. But I'm a student and I work part time. My rent is $900 pm, and I quite often have less than $5 a day to live on. That doesn't buy you much food/beer. So to spend it on Rev3, is sometimes hard to justify. But I have become a member again. As right now I can afford to, but there will no doubt be times when I'm skint and the $5 will mean a lot. I pay because I now think it's worth it. I didn't use mirror sites when I wasn't a member, and this is the 3rd time I've become one. Hopefully will last a bit longer

I was unemployed after being laid off and while waiting for Visa paperwork to come through for my new job back in 2000. We had some savings, my wife had income to cover her studies, but it wasn't much - we had mortgage and car payments to make as well. So, we cut back on everything that was non essential. That meant things like dropping our cable TV back to well - free to air. The only "luxury" we didn't cut out was internet access, because I was using that to apply for other jobs, and work on proof of concept applications.
Money was tight. You need to decide what is important. If accessing a 30minute podcast once a week or downloading one 2 days earlier than everyone else IS important, then you pay the bill, and do it - otherwise you go without. Podcasts aren't exactly essential - they are an easy sacrifice to make.

That's absolute rubbish. And a very ignorant view.
How is it ignorant? I was a college student for 12 years. Even at my poorest, I seem to have afforded $5/ month for movies and beer and other stiff I thought was important.
You should admit that it's not really the amount that people object to. It is paying anything at all in principal.
You feel you're a poor college student with burdensome rent responsibilities or whatever. I get that.
But, I've been to college. I've payed rent, I've had to feed myself on pennies a day. Where you are, I've been there. My observations are informed by that experience.
Labeling me as ignorant about such things in an attempt to dispel my opinion is really lame.
I also think that you're getting ripped off in the rent department. There's no reason a single college student needs to spend $900/rent. You must live in some seriously high-rent digs.

It's ignorant, because you're basing your opinion on your own experiences and not taking into account other possibilities. You're coming across as if anyone who doesn't justify spending the money, doesn't have good reasons and therefore doesn't deserve the same rights. You're labeling everyone who doesn't pay the same. When that just isn't true. Okay, you can afford to, good for you. And I believe members should get more members only material. But if someone does choose not to pay because of principles as you put it, who are you to say they have no valid reasons?
I live in the UK, where things are generally more expensive. And it's student halls I live in.

You're coming across as if anyone who doesn't justify spending the money, doesn't have good reasons and therefore doesn't deserve the same rights.
You're expanding the context in to my statements. Don't. I mean exactly what I said and no more.
I'm very sorry you've gotten your hackles raised. We're all buddies here and there no reason for you to insult me because you don't agree with what I say. A simple, I don't agree because...
I will treat your opinion with equal courtesy.
It's temping to think that if two people have access to the same facts, they must also have the same opinions. This is often not the case.
As you point out, my life experience color my opinions. This doesn't make the opinions "ignorant." It just makes them different.
My opinion.
1. I think that everyone who can use Pal-Pay should donate.
I also think that there should be peace in the middle east. I think people should tip a full 25%. It doesn't make it so.
2. I think that anyone who says they don't contribute because they can't afford it are being disingenuous.
I never said that there aren't valid reason for not contributing. I didn't contribute for a long time because there weren't enough shows that I liked and I didn't have enough time to watch "diggnation" before Monday.
Anyhow, people who aren't contributing members DON'T have the same download rights. The reasons are irrelevant. It also has nothing to do with what a person deserves.
People who show there support by regularity downloading shows from the official download sites are probably very appreciated and even loved by the Revision 3 people.

Saying your post was ignorant, isn't an insult. I'm sorry you couldn't understand that. If you read my post, you would see nothing was directed at you. But what you wrote. There is a big difference by me saying, "you're very stupid, what a pathetic thing to say" And me saying what you wrote was an ignorant statement. As I said, the way you wrote it, came across as your were looking down on people. I maybe misunderstood this, but I’ve merely taken the point you said, and put my views on the subject. I couldn't care less if you don't agree, as I wasn't arguing with you nor insulting you. The rest of my post was more geared towards Rev3 payment scheme. The only point that had me a little taken, was you "refuse to accept" which is a very bold statement. So expect it back.
I will say, if you feel Rev3 is worth it, become a member. There should be more members only material in my eyes. I'm not disputing your views, but you have to understand that, what works for someone doesn't for others. And I'm glad Rev3 doesn't refuse to accept this.
Again, I apologise if it came across as an insult. Maybe I shouldn’t have used the word rubbish, I don’t know, but it certainly wasn’t intended to be taken as one.
