Outer glow? It's all about manipulating Photoshop layers independently from the layer they are attached to. Bert revisits the creation of "Lunch in Tiburon" and shows you how to use an often ignored feature in layer styles.

Is anyone else having trouble playing the HD MOV file? If I fast forward at all the file stops playing.
I'm going to try and d/l again... I'll report back...

It's the Mac users that like laughing at all us Windows users. They enjoy punishing us because so much stuff isn't supported for Macs.

OK, I give up. I just downloaded the large file too and it's messed up as well. I guess no PP for me this week... *sigh*

I just tested the HD version and I am not having any problems with fast forwarding with QuickTime Player and VLC on the Mac.
What program and platform are you using?

Oh how I tried to do this a while back, but I had to create a copy of the background which was an image of a person - create the outer glow, copy another outline of the image and create another outer glow and then fade between the two - This saves me!
I think I will revisit that old PSD and try this new way.
Bert is my hero!
So many things I can do with that simple create layer... oi!

Thanks Bert! I'm not sure I have a specific need for this technique just now but knowing that is possible is huge. It's a menu option I never bothered to look at before. This is one of the things I really love about this show. The depth of PS is so great that users who don't use it everyday miss stuff.

I tested the file on VLC .8.6 running on XP and I had no problems with fast forward or seeking.

Why don't you try the xvid version instead?, VLC already has the codex for it.
