Google's Gphone: Engadget's Ryan Block separates fact from fiction. D: All Things Digital's Kara Swisher talks about Murdoch, Facebook, and why Yahoo better step it up. Hitlines: ad blocking software vs. revenue, Chinese military hacks the Pentagon!

Wait...there was a show? All I saw was leg and zoned out the whole time....I'll have to watch again and minimize the browser.
All childish hornball aside, great show as usual Om and Joyce! Only criticism I had was that your guest means nothing to anyone. Maybe she should do something worthwhile instead of voicing her opinions of Murdoch about things that haven't even happened.

Wait...there was a show? All I saw was leg and zoned out the whole time.........................
HAHAHAHAHHAAH,
Yeah, I kinda had the same problem................ But then, Mr. OM seemed to Sneak a Quick PEEK once or twice himself and he was there live!!!!!!!!!!!
But as above had stated, overall the show has a good base to build from and will hopefully continue to strive to find it's place online within the Video Info Shows...... I know that they wont always be able to acquire Guest that interest everyone, but hopefully it doesn't turn into an INFO-MERCIAL as some have.......... The show is Basic and still in its infancy, so I'll be patient and continue to download future Episodes.....
Thanks for the Show People and I meant no disrespect towards either of the Show Host when I made the comments of Joyce and OM............... So Joyce keep those Leggs a Showing and OM, Get some Dark Glasses..........:p
See Ya,

I didn't have that problem but I did have a problem with the second guest. Although I did like another guest and opinion on the headlines Ryan did bring some credibility and additional info to the usual one sided voicing of OM but I guess thats Om. I still think Joyce and Om need to switch sides. Oh back to the second guest, she dressed and acted like she was at an alcohol recovery center or a battered womens shelter, unprofessional attire, closed arms and body language I thought she was gonna lash out at some one specific but it seems she thought she was there to bash everything and sing her song of doom. I just don't buy her credibility. Maybe video isn't her thing but at least bring something other than a bunch of whining to the program. The set looks better each week. I like the Om when he is joking and sarcastic but happy sarcastic, I tend to wanna fast forward when he chimes in with conviction his disagreement and is serious but backs up with "well don't cha feel thats a sham" or "well I just feel they are being dishonest...." and it trails off into no real reason why. I think the show is great they have so many connections the guests will never run out but just need a lil fine tuning. :D

Good show.
The first guest was a bit annoying to me, seemed like some random person speculating to me, I don't care what website he works for. No facts and only speculation means nothing to me.
I really liked the second guest, my favorite one so far. Not being from America, I have no idea who she was but she seemed pretty down-to-earth about everything. I agree that Yahoo come across as an ageing company trying to be cool by buying the "cool sites". Launch was one of the most popular sites of it's time, now who the hell uses Yahoo Music? Does it even exist any more?
I fear what they will do to del.icio.us, telling them to change their name to delicious.com seems scary enough. Doesn't that defeat the point of buying a name people will recognise?

Cripes, Om. Do any of your viewers read, look at websites unrelated to gaming or take the time to learn what's happening around the real world - or the cyberworld, for that matter?
Per usual, my wife and I saved GigaOm TV for weekend viewing on the living room TV - and enjoyed this episode best of all, so far. Though Mr. Seagate was damned good, too.
Kara Swisher was sharper, better than anytime I'd seen her in person. She should be brought back to the show on a periodic basis.
Ryan, I automatically take with 17 grains of salt because Engadget - like Gizmodo - has too many profit/political/fanboy agendas for me to place any trust in any of their "analysis". Not a bad site for photos of the latest goodies - and maybe rear panels - that's about it.
Keep on rockin' in the free world, Om.

on the subject of ad blockers, this one is free (o/Src or at least free/ware)
http://homepage.usask.ca/~ijm451/prox/
nicely does a "slight hide" so that you can tell what the ad or pop up
is showing. I've installed it at a lot of places that needed something
but didn't have the $'s ALTARIAN. The only prob is that if the site
is running *some* fire-walls, it blocks the fire-wall permissions. It's
prob been updated as well since Y2K/9-11, etc.
also, i use AngelFire.com (now run by Lycos) and what's nice about
their ads is that there is only one pop up when you first access
the page. And the paste-in ads are relevant the page content.
That is AngelFire peeks at the page contents and then selects
the ads to go in there. In some cases, they are about as nice
as i could actually ever hope for. So, prob things like adBlock
and such could try to tailor the stuff that comes thru but then
that's the golden goose now isn't it?
(have we reached the 30 seconds of CMCL time during the
super bowl costs $5 M - $US? - ie, where something like
the film "Minority Report" the ads are customised to our on-line
profiles and such, so that when we surf into a new site for
the first time, it builds a profile and such like the amazon thing
"people who bought this book, also bought ...." -- brave new world.
will rsvp soonest - still looking for a new gig etc

Good points in this ep about the open/doc stuff.
(and i definitely tip my towel and send kuddos to the
Swedes - they are usually the *only* ones looking out
for "the little guy" in terms of documenation standards
and compatibility issues (h/w, s/w, etc).
M/S as usually wants to "buy into the market" - they've
tried this before by packaging doctored linux versions
with their s/w - didn't work then either.
Of course *some* of their concerns are warranted - esp
licensing/pay-per-view/etc for vids, music, etc. But,
we all know that *some-how* the way that we buy and share
all stuff will have to be under-going some major reveisions
in the next few years (months??).
If everyone would give actual *support* for O/src standards
(eg, .svg, .xml, etc) instead of people having to fish
around (usually on www.download.com - part of cNet) for
one-shot utilities to convert from some proprietary format
to a more portable. And of course MAC and PC are *still*
playing that game - but then the s/w is such an investment
to develop and support they sorta have to. Oh, well - don't
get me going on linux (tips towel to a fine finn!), unix,
x-windows. and vi !!
gotta blast,
Frank.

Concerning Ms. Swisher and the WSJ - it's an un-believably powerful entity in the entire world - of course 90% of the earth's population (see map) *doesn't* any stock (of the trading kind, but *does* have a stock in the future).
And i realise that having someone like her on the show (sort of like having Rush Limbaugh or Al Gore - who have massive followings and thus massive powers). And let's not kid our selves, with Disney controlling kid tv, and murdoch, and *that-level* going after their parents; we're pretty much talking the matrix here - and this isn't even *governmental* control/interests.
As such, i thought that both Om and Joyce "went after her" as best they could. But again, when someone has 30_000 hits a day on their web site, it's a bit different than this pod cast. As for the whole "dressing down" thing that Ms. Swisher did - sort of trying to fit into what she clearly (and properly) perceived as a geek show; can't fault her for that.
As for her oppinnion "really great reporters can come from anywhere" - what a load of
horse hockey! It was clearly politically motivated -Rather was one of the reporters
in Viet Nam and exposing the US's last foray into cowboy diplomacy. So, for Ms. Swisher to so cavlilierly say that bloggers spotted it in 20 seconds is a joke. As with any industry, the people in that industry "know where the skeletons are burried". But, then that's the power of working for a paper that controls the mental landscape of half of the country's business thinking. You sure don't see biz people reading Nature, Sci American, or such when they can get it all boiled down by the good old WSJ - not they are *ever* biased by the mega-corps that are developing all of the wonderful "brave new world" technology that TNG will have to live with. And Murdock the man who would be Citizen Kane???
Do the maths; me i'm looking for a cave to hide in.
But, in general i've much prefered the geek guests who have nothing to prove; but then: hey, i'm a geek and proud of it. I sort of took offence with Swisher in the way that she would keep making these pronouncements like they were fact - prob they are *future* fact via info that she has privy to being with the WSJ and such. But, a *discussion* is sort of supposed to be a two-way street. And i know i'm being geek-paranoid here, but it seemed like she was a wee bit more deferrential to Om and sort of trod over a lot of Joyce's comments. Oh well you know me and my obsession with watching out for male domination in our societies in general and in the tech-world specifically - having two techie daughters does that to you.
Over-all the show continues to just get better and better. And everyone knows that if your're getting such a diverse set of *pationate* views and such it's at least NOT boring.
TECH note: have the sound people check all the echo's on that set, Om's profundo basso
voice is coming across nicely, but a lot of Joyces comments are getting a lot of cancelation
echo - esp when she was speaking STAGE LEFT to Ms. Swisher. Might just be a mike prob.
-- frank. btw: I *never* spell check, and if i had 20 extra minutes, i'd do so, and then edit this *clearly the ranting of a derranged mind*. meanwhile: miles to go, before...
