I love how there is extra Diggnation content at places who are sponsoring Diggnation, but no exclusive Diggnation content for us paid members.

So I laughed really hard at the Yanni comment.

I mean, there were tears streaming down my face.

Absolutely hilarious. I lost it, I could not contain my everlasting laughter.

Hey Chuckles. Did Alex mean 8pm Pacific Standard time or Daylight time? Honestly, someone should educate that boy on daylight savings time.

What! Kevin! Taken?

I love this new Friday night thing. I always would wait 10PM Saturday night EST for it. I still do. So logging in this morning and seeing there was a new episode sure made for a perfect Saturday morning surprise.

They should do more shows with people in the background. Makes it....interesting.

Alex asked why the new iPod Touch doesn't have a hard-drive. Well it's OS X, to add a hard drive the battery run down much faster.

I think that Apple wants to move away from HD bases devices anyway. As flash memory comes down, we might see flash based Macbooks.

LOLing at the 44:17 point of the episode, where Kevin says "I didn't get any of the plot points."

Usually it is Kevin who gets to do all the "cool" things, while Alex seems to feel "left out" (e.g. Kevin speaking at the conference in the UK, Alex is not). Here, the roles are reversed!

I thought there was already free wifi access at Starbucks. Every other fast food and coffee shop offers it. Did Starbucks not already do this?

Alex isn't thinking about the Ipod touch from the perspective of someone that doesn't already own an Iphone, which is a huge number of people. I've heard so many times since the Iphone came out that it is easily the best Ipod on the market. Now people have the opportunity to have a device with that functionality plus Wifi for web browsing without having to sign a contract with AT&T. I've got more than a year left with Sprint before I could make the switch, and even then I'd have an uphill battle with my wife because all of her family and friends are on Sprint, so it would mean no more free PCS to PCS calls.

The Ipod Mini and Ipod Nano have been the most popular Ipods sales wise. I have a feeling that these Ipod touches are going to sell like gangbusters. For $100 more than the 8 GB Nano you can get the cool Iphone interface and a widescreen video player along with the Internet capabilities while near a Wifi connection. I'm picking one up for sure.

Also, hard drive based players might hold more info, but they are far more prone to drive failure because of the moving parts. I had an old Dell hard drive based MP3 player and a standard Ipod (now the classic) fail on me, but my Nano is still going as strong as the day I bought it.

I think Alex's main point was it doesn't make sense for them to offer the touch with such small storage. Not so much that people with iPhones will want them, but they need to make them benefit more compared to the regular iPod more than just you have to touch the screen, and a widescreen for video (though the widescreen is a huge selling point). But only 8 GB? think of the small amount of video. 8 GB is almost nothing. It makes little sense to not offer a hdd based one for more storage.

$100 more? Has price already been confirmed?

Those 5-liter mini-kegs are a much of a value. Sure, they get points for the cool factor. But, they only hold about as much as a 12-pack and a 12-pack is cheaper and easier to chill. Although, with the keg, you have to finish it all in one sitting...that's not really a drawback.

I think Revision3 should invest a few hundred bucks for some honest-to-goodness tapping equipment and set up a bar. Most breweries have 5 Gallons kegs that are pretty economical. They should set up a few tapes for variety. It might also be fun to get kegs from different places around the country (sponsors?). Maybe they don't trust themselves with free flowing draft beer around. I wouldn't

I'm getting kind of sick of people saying that 8 GB's and 16 GB's is not enough storage for music and videos. It may not be enough storage for you, but it is for me. Here's what you do:

You put a few movies and TV shows and podcasts then you delete them off the iPod when you are done. It's quite simple actually. Your battery life isn't going to last long enough to warrant a bunch of movies on the device.

are these commercials getting longer and longer as time goes on, not that digg could'nt grow anymore without them, just how about compartmentalizing them a little more. i do speed over them even though kevin and alex are talking about them.

There are three reasons the Nano has been so successful, cheaper price, smaller device and memory that can't be affected by jogging or drops to the floor. TO achieve this goal you must use flash memory in a small enough amount to not drastically increase the price.

People have already been clamoring for the Nano to play video ever since the color screen was introduced. Many of us don't need every video we own on the device, just a few things to watch when we have free time over the course of the day. I've used my PSP as a portable video device for two years with only 2 GBs of Data and it never seemed too small an amount. With 8 GBs I can carry more video and 4 GBs worth of music as well.

Yeah, the prices for all the new Ipods were announced as well. The touch will be $299 for the 8GB model and $399 for the 16GB model. The new fatty Ipod Nano will be $199 for 8GB. The Ipod Classic will be $249 for 80GB and $349 for 160GB (I might have the classics storage incorrect).

While I agree, my 30GB iPod is filled and I sometimes feel to listen to a song, but what happened? I cleared out my older songs to put more recent things. I personally could use 160GB.

Umm, I guess some of you missed the part where I said there is little/no reason for them to not have a HDD (a.k.a. bigger storage) version of it... As in "as well as" meaning, they'd have a nano-like touch and a video iPod like touch... Or can Apple not do that? I understand the clearing your device and whatnot, but seriously, when I've got 150+ GB of video, sometimes I want to keep more than a handfull of movies, tv shows, etc. on at a time. Plus, I'd hate to go running back to my computer just to sync new videos, not to mention, what if I have a trip coming up where I know I won't have a computer (Not to mention problems syncing with different computers.) Honestly, I think my point is still valid, it makes little sense that Apple wouldn't have a bigger storage version of the new Touch, especially if they are going to have the "iPod Classic" to somewhat be the counter.

So, I do have a question for anyone interested in the iPod Touch a.k.a. "iTouch" Is it being multi-touch important? Does it really matter over the single touch we've had for so long? This question mainly stems from the fact that IMO the iPhone has almost no reason to be multi-touch over regular touch.

logant

Are you kidding me? Multi-touch on the iPhone is the best feature on the iPhone. Zooming in by pinching, or double touching to zoom in. Swipe your finger right to go to the next picture, swipe it left to go to the previous picture. Not to mention the keyboard.

I think Apple realizes that people want form over function, and 16 GB's is plenty for most consumers.

... You misunderstood my question. Out of the features you listed only the zooming in by pinching REQUIRES multi-touch. The others can be done with a normal touch screen. My question is why is multi-touch so much better than normal touch screen in terms of the iPhone/future iPod, and before anyone says it you can use your finger with both and/or a stylus with both. My point being, multi-touch in the iPhone is almost useless only truly being used in zooming.

What was that website that Kevin was talking about to get that software they have on their phones...

plus I think it was kinda funny since he said "hacked", but he really didn't do it himself. All he had to do is go to the website and download the software. He really didn't do all the leg work that went into actually hacking the phone..

poor kevin has gotten so far from his roots.....

As said before in this thread, please check your facts before saying incorrect information on the air. After all you've got a lot of viewers.

iPod classic is 80 GB or 160 GB, not 120 GB as Kevin said.

Wifi will NOT be free for iPhone/iPod Touch in Starbucks to the web. It's only free WiFi for the iTunes music store so you won't be able to surf the web for free as Alex said.

Kevin said, "Do a Google search for installer.app". Make sure you *don't* search for installer.apps, that will give you a ton of completely unrelated results.
