My Box won't even show the HD format file. Anyone else have the problem? I verified it worked on my computer so the file is good, but it just won't show on the XBox. This makes me think the way it was encoded makes it incompatible with XBox's H.264 support?

Funny, my XBOX 360 played it fine. XBOX 360 does play Quicktime files after the last update. If a recall, the XBOX 360 had to download the drivers separately though. Unfortunately, you need to be using WMP 11 or Zune. They didn't update Windows Media Connect because the losers what you to use their other products.

Try burning the file to a disk. This should cause the driver to download from XBL. You should then be able to share Quicktime files using ZUNE or WMP 11.

Doesn't work on the AppleTV either. Is it some sort of weird non-standard .mov or something?

You mean: "I doesn't work on Apple TV."

Unless, It plays on at least one stock XBOX 360... namely mine. You just have to make sure your sharing software is up-to-date. Using TVeristy or Windows Media connect probably won't work. Or, burn it to a CD.

The HD version does work on the 360. I've got it working myself. What you have to do is download the H.264 codec on Xbox Live. I don't know where to find it, but how I got it was when I was trying to play a .MOV file one time, a notice came up asking if I wanted to download the codec. So, I'd just try to search around the marketplace for the codec...shouldn't be too hard to find.

What about PS3? Will it work on that?

I think there may be an issue with the media sharing software not sharing the MOV files properly. I think that if he burns the files to a CD and opens the file directly from there, it'll force the codec to download. After that, there should be no problem sharing MOV files using ZUNE or WMP 11....if those are actually working for you.

It will play the HD H264, just be signed in to XboxLive and try to play it and it should ask you if you want to download the update. Looks amazing by the way.

I would try to play it to force the download but like I said, I can't even see the file on the shared section of the computer I have netted with the 360.

I'll try a thumb drive or burning it to disk.

I tried to locate the drivers on Live, but found nothing close. They were supposed to be included in the last/newest update which I have.

I have netwroked the 360 to several media servers in my house running WMP11 and even tried it in Media Center. Nothing though. What a pain. I want to see it on my 46" LCD.

All web videos need some serious help in the video quality dept.

Maybe I'm just an idiot, but.....

I can't for the life of me get the H.264 .MOV file to appear in the streaming list. I'm using Windows Media Center 11 w/ Media Sharing enabled. All my other stuff (music, photos, and movies) works fine, but the .MOV file is not showing up.

I tried burning the file to a CD and playing it, but the Xbox claimed that this file was "not supported". Please note that I have downloaded the "Optional Media Update" from Marketplace, so that should not be the issue.

Is there anything obvious that I'm missing? Thanks!

I don't think your an idiot. I just think it's MS stuff working up to it's usual standard. It all seems rather cobbled together. I guess you can't roll-back the media update. When I used the CD method, the Xbox 360 connected automatically to download the update, I never went to the market place.

Good luck buddy, XBOX 360 Tech support sucks major ass.

If you're an idiot, then so am I. I cannot get it to appear in the networked connection folder either. I did pop it on a thumbdrive and it worked from there. Stupid

Problem solved.

Despite what all the Microsoft documentation says, WMP11 _WILL NOT_ stream this file to the Xbox. Once I installed Zune Media Center, the H.264 file (and may others, actually) appeared in the Xbox 360 listing.

Is the Zune Media Center WMP11 with the Zune software or is it a stand alone app?

Zune is a stand alone thing. If you are using the Zune sharing service, you should diable WMP11 sharing. Do it manually.

It's really sketchy. I've never been able to get the Zune sharing service working at all. The tech support just blames it on my router...which is bullshit because it seems to work until I install the Microsoft .NET framework version 2. Also, the third party sharing software like TVersity works fine...but it doesn share the HD h.264 very well.

For me it was a burned CD or nothing. I really enjoy the higher-definition flash player on my PC. But, I don't watch it on my home theater system because Alex had a potty mouth. I like watching "diggnation" on my iPod.
