Yes I even watched when Olivia was on. But Donate. Im sending them Money and I work at Wal-Mart. even though Ad's pay for the shows. Revision 3 Need's more Money. We need to Throw Enough Money At them so Revision 3 Can Hostly Take over G4 and Can Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira. Also So they Can save Adam and Morgan from A sinking Ship. Anyways Kevin Rose, Martin, Patrick, and even Alex, Need the Money So Donate Now.

I don't think you guys need to pick this scab anymore. If you wanna see R3G then you have to donate. I think they get it.

On the other hand, I'd love to see Olivia Munn's fun hour... that sound interesting.

A few strikes against you...

1) Watched G4.
2) Claim ad-supported, but need money.
3) Seem to think that Rev3 want to take over G4, a.k.a. become its own station and have to provide full days worth of content, even if it is filler shit... i.e. This is what G4 does.
4) Again, crying that Rev3 really needs my $5

So, I tell you what, rather than making a post basically pleading people for "donate", it's actually a subscription fee. Why didn't you say "If you want to watch, don't pirate it, play pay the fee."? Maybe I don't want to pay, so therefore I can't watch...

also, I can see why some people would be mad, the image they have if you are not a member does say "It will be available to everyone soon." I was a little mad, when I found out that it was truly members only.

Totally agree. Its fine to make members only for a couple days, but to not make it available ever is ridiculous and goes against what I thought where the core values of Revision3.

this is my exact though. So I can't get diggnation a few days early? fine, I can show patience, I'll wait till it comes out fully. I won't grab it off a mirror or anything, just wait.

but to have something members only forever, it's a slap in the face for internet content. We don't deal with ads and sponsors on everything just so it can be rubbed in our face that we're not fans enough to donate money.

The whole thing just tries to make us feel bad for not giving rev3 money. It gives the impression that 'you don't care about us enough to deserve this content.' It really goes 180degrees from what I thought rev3 was about, even if it is just one simple 15 minute show. It's a start to an entirely wrong direction for the entire company.

It makes me sad to see this happening, and I can only hope it doesn't continue.

*NOTE: I used to be a paying member, back before there were any ads at all. (I've been around since episode 1 of diggnation). Then when rev3 v2.0, I believe, came around, my $5 payments kept going out, but I was not able to get diggnation early for some reason, which went on for 2 months or so. So I canceled, figuring if they have these big time sponsors, they no longer need my $5 a month to support themselves.

Nah, nahh!

$5 a month is so little to pay for all that chewy Rev3 goodness!

Sarah, I would like to see a 360° rooftop view please.

Thanks,
Jay

Actually, I'm cool with it being members only forever. Let's be honestly, it's a cool look into Rev3, but I definitely wouldn't say it's an awesome/rad show like Diggnation, TRS, InDigital, etc. However, I'm not cool with Rev3's site telling me it'll "be available soon" when in fact it will not.

Also, I'm not cool with the first post in this thread. It came off like he was pleading people to pay Rev3. and that they are hurting so bad that I don't want to give them $5 a month. It wasn't even a "Pay and you'll get this extra content" his post came off as a "Everyone should pay, period." I'm not saying that is what he meant, but that is how it came off and is why I made my other post.

They should change the word Donate to Subscribe. The words both have different meanings.

Well, it's a donation. But it is handled through Pay-pal as a subscription.

The terms don't interchange, but I'm not sure how the terms are incompatible.

From Wikipedia...

"Donation is a gift to a fund or cause, typically for charitable reasons. A donation may take various forms, including cash, services, clothing, toys, food, accommodation, blood or new or used items. "

"The subscription business model is a business model that was pioneered by magazines and newspapers, but is now used by a myriad of businesses and websites. Rather than selling products individually, a subscription sells periodic (monthly or yearly or seasonal) use or access to a product or service, or, in the case of such non-profit organizations as opera companies or symphony orchestras, it sells tickets to the entire run of five to fifteen scheduled performances for an entire season."

Sounds like periodic early access to me. Plus, Rev3 currently offers no way for anyone to make a 1 time donation of any value. e.g. It's being called "Donation" when it is set up like a subscription. I say it is a subscription as we have no choice but to pay for a certain amount of time. If they offered the ability to give a 1 time donation, or re-occuring donation of any size, even if it didn't get the "membership" benefits then I would consider it a donation.

What's the point? Why are you argue about what it's called?

Is Revision3 is trying to mislead people?

I love how everyone says there isn't enough content to warrant paying 5 dollars per month. Revision3 could have a bunch of content that was for members only and you guys would still complain. First of all you would complain that there's not enough content, and then secondly you would complain that you aren't allowed to watch it unless you are member. Stop thinking you're entitled to free stuff on the internet.

... Stop thinking you're entitled to free stuff on the internet.

They're the consumers; they make the final decision on where their money should go.

Personally, I wouldn't pay $5/month for early or exclusive Rev3 content. If the whole site went subscription (ie. no content without paying), I'd find free alternatives.

My wallet, my decision.

edit: Let me temper the above by stating I -would- like the choice to make a one time "donation" to my favorite show(s).

I think Rev3 only has subscriptions for Diggnation. That and The Gazette, which is barely a show. So essentially 1 show for $5/month.
I'm fairly certain they dont charge for the other shows because those are licensed by Rev3, not produced.

Actually, the majority of our shows are produced in-house. As for subscriptions, think of it this way: if our members are donating money every month, we want to thank them by giving them perks and extras, such as early releases of Diggnation, or exclusive, behind the scenes content on R3G. In the meantime, we're working hard to produce great shows across the network so that our viewers are happy and keep coming back. :)
