I've been trying to install linux on a partition of my Macbook, but it always spits the disk out a bit after inserting it. Do macs just hate livecds or is something else to blame?

is it Intel or PPC?
If PPC you need to hold down the "C" during boot to force it to boot from the CD
If Intel you will need to have boot camp installed. If you already have it installed, hold down the Option key during boot. That should bring you up to the screen showing your hard drive and the CD. Select the CD and press enter to boot from it.

NM, the disk was just damaged. And holding C boots from the cd aswell on intel macs fyi.
