There is currently no version of video which Revision3 distributes that works well with the iPod touch or iPhone. The Small Quicktime of course works, but the larger screen causes the video to look pixelated and crappy. The large Quicktime version would work well, however it appears to be incompatible. The wrapper you use (Quicktime) is incompatible.

From what I hear, you need to distribute in a MPEG-4 wrapper for it to work. Is there anyway you could look into this? You could easily correct the wrapper without any quality lose or size change. This would make the video compatible with the larger iPod displays. Heck, even the iPod nanos support 640x480, so by making it compatible iPod users could download the higher quality version and enjoy it both on their iPod and desktop.

This would be greatly appreciated if you could get the Large Quicktime working with iPods. Thanks!

What the iPod Nano users wouldn't enjoy is the extra file size.

Alright, the nano users may dislike the extra space, but the small Quicktime is still available for that.

The point is, making the large Quicktime compatible would allow people to download only one version which works on their iPod and looks great on their desktop.

Oh, I agree, I was just being cheeky.

How about a download under 50mb? (that's the limit in this god forsaken place)
But really. HD? For two drunk guys on a couch. I'm flummoxed.

I'm not just talking about Diggnation. Seeing the Totally Rad Show, Indigital, The GigaOM Show, Systm, and Infected in better quality would be nice also.

Glad to hear that. Do you happen to have an ETA? If you don't, I won't bug you, but it would be nice to know.

And, yeah, that's my website.

And how are you limited to 50 mb ? I bet there is a way around that.

Works fine for me, im watching it right now.

Now i would rather not have to download it 2 times, so im with ya there. But no real beef with the quality of the small quicktime on my iphone /shrug.

Well, I'll agree with you, the Small Quicktime doesn't look too bad. The problem is more with text usually. It's near impossible to read with all the jaggies.

However, if you convert the large quicktime and compare it to the small, the large looks amazing on the device. The small looks like crap compared to it. I would must rather have the large version over the small.

Forget QuickTime... ohhh grrr I hate QuickTime, I just hate it. Why don't you use "Bink & Smacker" (RAD Tools) to convert QuickTime movies to .AVI ? You will save tons of space. For example, 100MB mov file can be converted to like 60MB (or less) .AVI ...

As of today and tekzilla, our large quicktime is an iphone/ipod compatible m4v. Enjoy the full 640x360 goodness. All large quicktimes going forward will use the same compatibility profile.

Thank you for addressing this issue. I just connected my iPod touch tonight and noticed Tekzilla synced up perfectly. I'm looking forward to enjoying Rev3 content wherever, whenever without any crazy steps. Thanks again!

If the so-called "Quicktime Large" files are going to be changed after all these years to a M4V container instead of a MOV, then the download area for each program should have the correct name, "Apple iTunes Video Large" -- since that is what these files are actually called using this new method.
