When I was watching the latest episode of Diggnation this morning while getting ready to go out, I was quite shocked when I saw the word 'TWAT' on the arse of the girl. I don't know if you guys in America know this but a twat in Australia is another word for a females genitlia, and almost on the same par as vulgar as the word 'c*nt'. I myself was only shocked to see it and am not at all offended, but thought it might prove to be an interesting topic. Also, a fanny down here is also another word for the same thing but just not as rude. It's stange how it means arse in America but front bum here in Australia.

I think twat means a hot but dumb girl.

Here is a link to Wikipedia and their definition of twat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twat)
and in particular this
"Although the term was not notable enough to be included in George Carlin's original seven dirty words, it was one of three words (the others being fart and turd) that later made his slightly expanded 10-word version. Carlin explained that part of the word's allure lay in the fact that - unlike snatch, box, and p*ssy - twat had no meanings other than reference to female genetalia. He also used it in a sports cheer during a standup routine: "Rat shit, bat shit, dirty old twat. Sixty-nine assholes tied in a knot. Hooray, lizard shit, f*ck!""
I'm pretty sure that the English's translation (from England) for twat is something like an idiot, eg, 'You twat'

Don't fool yourself it means the same thing here in the states.
I thought it was funny, hope Leo thought so. It was a pretty raw joke.

Well in that case I think it was even funnier. I just assumed it was like the fanny cultural definition difference.

Nope hehe, it was a play on "TWIT" (This Week In Tech).

Yeah, I knew it was about Leo's podcast, and that's just made it even funnier, trying to anticipate how he'll react to the whole thing. It could pretty much go either way with him I think.

I have notice a few references that perhaps these shots at leo are more than jokes.
On the Beer for Diggnation site one of the reasons was to contribute to the beer fund was so that diggnation wouldn't start sounding like twit. The TW*T thing on the last episode and I think there was another jab in there somewhere.
Honestly, I could care less if they get along. I don't live in a fantasy world where it makes a difference that two online techies are friends.
Could be good for business to start a rivalry.

I don't think Kevin Rose and Leo are rivals if that's what your saying. Leo thinks Kevin is cool.

You would be quite wrong in saying twat and c**t are almost on par. First of all, the word c**t is WAY, WAY, WAY more common in Australia. In fact, it often is preceded by "g'day" amongst friends. In reference to genitalia, it's way more offensive than twat. In america though, any use, any reference to the word 'c**t', is uncommon and shocking for some reason.
The really weird difference about the word 'c**t' to me is that americans use it against women as derogatory namecalling. In Aus, men get referred to as c**t's all the time but when being used in namecalling purposes ("you stupid c**t"), in america, it's normally directed to women.
But like I said, the word is like 'dude', or 'mate' or 'guy' and the like, to me. Meeting and greeting friends, Aussies would simply say "hey c**t, howzitgoin'?"

Listen to the end of this 20 second clip, I know Dominic Purcell is Aussie and he does use that word at the end.

I was shocked too. I have to wonder whats up with Leo and Kevin. This was a bit much i think for leo to stomach, but after all the things leo has said about diggnation, im not suprised. I think leo is becoming a bit of a cranky geek these days, so i dunno. I still like them both either way.
but it was hilarious =x

It's a generation gap. Leo is older, he's a dad. His kids are in their teens and I guess he feels Diggnation sets a bad example or is too crude. But all in all I don't think there's a rivalry. Have you seen his lates blog pic? I didn't see anything saying, Patrick, Sarah and that bastard!

Sure caught me off guard, but just as in a hadn't heard that word in a long time
don't think anything was ment by it towards Leo. Twit is also a word that you don't hear often but its not a great word to call someone ether!
but Leo's Show is called T.W.I.T.

oh, i dont know, i'd say twat and c**t are pretty much on par! atleast it is over hear in Old Blighty! :)
I highly doubt theres any kind of bad blood there. Leo and Kevin are pioneers in the podcast world. The fact that Kevin appears on Leo's shows, and vise versa, simply shows that the two have nothing but things to gain from eachother's friendship. I'm more than willing to bet Leo chuckled at the joke.
