From what I've read, first party titles are supposed to be 49.99, and third party titles are going to be 59.99-69.99.

And for Gran Turismo HD ..you pay 60$ for the 'game' but it has no content..just menu's you have to pay for your tracks and cars online which can range from 426$ to 975$ for all cars and tracks....yay PS3:rolleyes:

I think that price is alright. I'll probably be importing the games so it works out at half the cost for me.
Does anyone know whether the ps3 will upscale normal dvds?

Plenty of SNES RPGs were $70 in the early 90s. I think most games will be $60--just like 360.

I don't see what the big deal is. Games have been $50+ for 15 years. All this time later, I think $60-$70 is entirely reasonable. PC games are reaching $60 these days and they aren't trying to recover any hardware costs like console makers are.
Yeah, it's not cheap - but it's not ridiculous, either. They can't be $50 for the rest of your life.

Probably, but only through a HDMI or VGA connection.

Thats because PC games are made with certain hardware in mind. they don't care about the costs because they don't have to. they're not trying to recover loses of hardware...because there isn't any. Which is another reason why i dislike PC gaming. "Hey i'm gonna buy a game for $30...but wait i need more RAM and a new video card." and that 30 dollar game just became $100+ game.

What's the big hubbub? All next gen games cost the same (though Wii prices aren't really known yet). I agree that some of the early 360 games were a ripoff, but that's changing.
The Blu-ray drive in the PS3 does upscale just like all other high def. disc players.

no offense to anyone involved, but this thread might as well be called "reading tea leaves". My advice would be to wait until it comes out, wait until the games come out, and buy or not accordingly.

Nintendo said long ago thier games will be 50$ for Wii...and re confirmed it at the NYC event.

EB Games and Gamestop posted $60 bucks for a couple Wii games on their site recently, so there is some confusion.

I think people need to realize that development cost is on the rise, it's only reasonable that price for the result product would reflect that. Pricing of both gaming and consoles have fluctuated in the past (Link (http://curmudgeongamer.com/2006/05/history-of-console-prices-or-500-aint.html)), in fact, fluctuation in any market is normal. I personally don't mind the price rise, since I'm at a 'liberty' of being picky and prudent in my buying decisions.

^Notice how those high priced past consoles failed..and also the "development cost" has not risen by much and in fact EA and Bungie released 60$ special versions of Halo 2 and Madden..it was a corp ploy(they admitted this) to see if gamers would pay 60$ for games so they could determine if they wanted to charge an extra 10$ next gen.

Game stores often do that before console releases but they can't charge more the the MSRP and the MSRP is 50$.
DS games even a couple weeks before DS launched were listed as 40-50$ despite Nintendo saying they would charge 30-35$.
Never trust gamestores listed game prices before a console launch.

Also notice how the N64, Dreamcast, and Gamecube have failed, on the lower end of the price spectrum.
And it's not a matter of how much dev cost has risen, it's the fact that it's been on a consistent rise for so long, with the price not reflecting that rise.
