I been gliding around this topic lately and im really on a kick to getting more healthy again. Right now im reading about the ancient ways of fasting, so im really interested to hear your motivations, what it does for you, how you deal with it, how it makes you feel and how your doing it. Really anything you wanna share about it.
You have my undivided attention.

Don't fast if your concerned about your health, it really doesn't do anything for you. You should be concerned with what you do eat and how often you exercise and how nutritional your diet is. Go Vegan!

But if vegan is more healthy, what about the vitamin deficiencies ? How do you get around that? I dont wanna pop pills for the rest of my life, i did that for the first part with Ritalin. bleck.

Protein - covered by soy and nut products.
Fats - dairy.
As for vitamins and minerals ... we get them from vegies.
Don't forget that there are different levels of vegetarianism as well ... some dont eat red meat, but fish is OK. Chicken is out, but eggs are OK. Some no milk/dairy. Vegetarian is a pretty broadsweeping term that might just mean that they don't eat meat, but could be much deeper than that.

i thought vegans diet lacked a certain vitamin, b-12 or something, its been a while since i read up on this. But its important to brain development. I have to admit that every vegan i have met looks weak and sickly too. That might not mean anything though, i mean i live in FL. But it just seemed all my research and looking at how we naturally are ( canine teeth ) that while you can survive, its not truly healthy or in our design.
Any of that ringing a bell? The b-12 stuff? Im sure it was a B vitamin thats important that you dont get in a vegan diet. Also, im talking pure vegan, no meat at all.
Are you a vegan token ?

An easy way for me to stay feeling energetic and slim is to eat a good diet of lean meats and stay away from all sugar drinks. Basically don't eat an animal with 4 legs and you're ok...unless its an amputee ;)

Are you a vegan token ?Lacto vegans (ie ones that don't consume dairy products) wont be getting any B12.
B12 is vital for production of red blood cells and the nervouse system. Critical for anyone with blood disorders, anemia, or immune deficiencies. My sister is being monitored for a nasty form of leukemia - and milk is vital to her diet.
For the record - I am not a vegan. I like meat. Love an aged prime rib or porterhouse, really enjoy a ribeye on the grill :) ... and my grilled chicken broke a 12 year vegan and brought her over to the dark side :D

Of course veganism is very strict vegetarianism which doesn't allow any meat or dairy products. So you wouldn't be able to get the fat from dairy, it would have to be from another source.
