Thank you so much for tuning me into Pushing Daisies. I agree with you Jeff and Dan in every aspect. I BTed the first episode and adored it. October 2nd is too far away (thats when it airs in Canada on CTV. One day earlier than ABC suckas).
I also wanted to add that I thought the comedy reminded me of the kind of comedy in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, which kind of segways into my only gripe. I think Zooey Deschanel would be perfect for the role of Chuck. Maybe thats just because I have a constant emotional hard-on for her and haven't watched anything shes been in lately. [OT: Does anyone have any information on the mini-series "Tin Man" that she is staring in? Please post a thread or PM me.]
Thanks again guys for introducing everybody to Pushing Daisies and for putting together such a great show.

Better hope you can BT the rest of the series after it is canceled by week 4. This has no chance of making it to christmas.

Never seen the preview, but when I heard it was like Big Fish, I had to check it out. Sadly, the art direction isn't as Burton-esque as I was expecting, but it looks like a fun and quirky show. But I'll agree that it probably won't make it too far. Reminds me of what happened to Wonderfalls, and what seemed to happen to Raines (that show with Jeff Goldblum). Shows with that little twist never seem to make it. :(
And I agree that it seems like a better premise for a movie. Watching the preview on youtube makes me wonder how they'll carry this out for more than one season.
Hope it lasts though. ABC seems to have great success with their primetime shows.

Hopefully it'll be a hit somewhere (Canada, UK, etc) and they will release the entire first season in some form. I think Canadians, in general, are more open minded about the variety of shows they watch on TV. Hell, we have a show called Corner Gas which is centered around a gas station in a small Saskatchewan town that does great. Its a good show, I have all 3 seasons on DVD. Check it out.

Watching it now and i love it so much i had to put it on pause and share it. What a wonderful show. I dont know if its cause i have done so many of the harry potter books on audio with jim dale, but i love his voice over. The story is cute, funny and charming so far. Is kinda big fish and hitch hicker guide to the galaxy ( the books not the movie ) mixed together.
Lasts or not, at least its here now :)
Thnx TRS guys and community cause this did catch my eye, but i let it pass until it was recommended here :)

I did the same thing. I had to pause it half way in and blog and post and email. I hope it catches on. If they can pull it off it'll lead to a lot of creative and unique shows. I don't have much faith in TV Execs, but they did good here.

I'm hearing a lot of Big Fish references and I'm worried. I thought Big Fish was terrible. I couldn't even get through the entire movie, and I never do that... So how much like Big Fish is it? I guess I should just d/l it and check it out.

We downloaded it last night. I'm hoping it finished because the internet was out when I woke up. :(
With any luck I'll get to watch it today and of course I'll post here to praise it's virtues. :)

Pushing Daisies is a really great idea for a show. I think they've set it up pretty well and the characters are all very unique. As for survival of the show, fans can only hope they have enough quality plot lines to keep us interested. Watch it!!

This is a real gem. While I don't like it quite as much a Journeyman, its very good and prob too good for main stream America. I really hope it finds a following and makes it!

I am so glad that the Rad crew mentioned this show. I sought it out was not disappointed in the least bit.
The show is charming especially the last scene where the pretend to hold each others hands.
EPIC!

So, we just finished watching it.
Delightful, charming, sweet and whimsical - I loved it.
*Very slight spoiler*
Although I admit to being terrified every time they got a bit too close to each other and wondering how in the world he kept away from the dog, lol.

I watched it earlier and I must say I friggin' love it. Love the dialog, love the characters, love the cinematography, etc. I made my parents watch it. I'm afraid that it is probably going to be canceled which seems to happen to all the best shows. Pushing Daisies looks amazing in HD by the way.

I kinda watched it. But we were celebrating my brother's birthday so I was distracted throughout. I'll probably have to watch it again to have a real opinion of the show. But from what I watched it seemed good. I'm not totally into the fairy tale aspect of it, but it doesn't bother me that much.

Ok, I'm so glad someone made a thread for this...otherwise, if they hadn't I was going to. I love this show...I love everything about it. I love the narrator, I love the characters, I love how quirky the world they exist in is, I love that the main character brought her back to life for love. Here's what I don't love...
My wife, god bless her, does not like anything I like...videogames, TV, movies, etc.
So last night, I was sitting there watching it and enjoying every minute of it and my wife comes and sits down to watch it. She's immediately turned off by the Narrator saying "What is this, a book on tv?"
Things like this continue until she decides to go into another room and I get so frustrated I just turn it off.
So, that being said...I love this show, but I think it is only going to appeal to a very, very limited audience and is not going to be appreciated for how great it is or what it could eventually build into.

This show left me with an unmistakable feeling of utter joy. Thats the only way I can describe it. I was so completely taken by everything about it: The art, the stacatto dialouge, the jokes, the premise, everything. That being said, this show is far too smart for the average TV viewer...we'll only see about 6 episodes, then it'll go to TV show heaven with the Black Donnellys.
BTW, my favorite line was "*****! I was in proximity!" I nearly fell out of my chair, which would have been hard, because I was laying on the floor.

I loved the narration but it'll turn a lot of people off.
I want to time it to see if they are alive longer then 60 seconds. It always seems like they talk too long for 60 seconds.

So, I asked some people I work with to watch the show and report back to me and now I'm very sad.
They gave me the answers I expected but I was hoping for more.
I work with a lot of "regular people" (i.e. not geeks) and out of 5 people, these were their reactions;
3 said, "I watched 10 minutes of it and changed the channel because it was "stupid" / "boring".
1 said "I only watched it all because you begged me but I didn't like it at all."
1 said, "I watched the whole thing even though I wanted to change the channel because you asked me to watch it all. I'm kinda glad I finished it because it was better than I thought after seeing the whole episode." (I think she just wasn't expecting the uniqueness of it and was immediately turned off but after getting used to it she enjoyed it.)
*sigh*
:(
I fear for the show's future.

I'm thinking it probably is something like this, coupled with the fact that a lot of people don't like change.
There are a few slower paced movies that I love (Last Night (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0156729/) is one, for instance) that I showed other people and they just can't sit still through it.

I love how in the show, everything is done twice. The name of the town is the same word twice, Charlotte Charles has a double name, the name of the travel agency is Boutique Travel Travel Boutique, the aunts' swim duo was called The Darling Mermaid Darlings, when speaking to each other, someone always repeats what the last person said, thus bringing the same phrase up twice, such as, when Ned tells the blonde girl "Pie Time", she immediately repeats it. It's in every conversation multiple times. He even has to poke people.....TWICE!!!

Building upon that, He is Chuck's first kiss and she wants him to be her last as well. She asks if thats weird, and he says no, thats symmetry.

I think this show is the bee's knees. I love the narration. Makes it feel like a story book. I like that all-ages take on this premise, which easily could have been done very morbidly. I really enjoy how the dialog works in between the narration so the story moves along well, the dialog is interesting, funny, and to the point.
Loved the plot. The stuff with the monkeys reminded me a bit of the Maltese Falcon, which is never a bad thing. And the love story was touching, to use an ironic word. However, to me it feels that maybe this should have been a one-shot. I'm really interested to see the next episode, because after thinking about the first I thought "where does it go from here?" It was like the quintessential story of Ned's life. Are they going to do a freak-of-the-week deal from hereon, each week him waking up a new dead person? To me, it feels like no story they do could have as much weight as this one: Ned as a kid, discovering his powers, then making a life for himself as The Pie Maker, the love story, etc. IDK, I'll be interested to see.
But then again, I'm from the Midwest, so I don't see how my opinion could matter. I mean, my Summer job is on a farm, my night sky is filled with stars 'cause there's no light pollution, and the air is fresh and smog-free. Gee, I guess I'm too much of a yokel to "get" this show.
Seriously, you all need to take the sticks out of your butts. It's possible for people to have different tastes. Believe it or not, just because they don't like something you like doesn't mean they're functionally retarded or anything. This show, to me, is very much like a children's story, albeit very well done. That's what I like about it, and I do like it very much, but you don't exactly have to be a rocket scientist to "get" this show. I think this show appeals to the inner child more than the intellect. I mean, the restaurant is called "The Pie Hole," and it's shaped like a pie. I don't know how long it's been since I've seen a restaurant shaped like anything in particular, much less a pie.
Also, "getting" the show is irrelevant to why or why not people liked it. I mean, I near turned it off when I saw that dog died. I don't like to see that. If I've got a soft spot in my heart, it's for Man's Best Friend.

I just got done watching this show and really enjoyed it. I'm with Tisch in that the narration makes it feel like a story book. The characters are all unique in their own way, and the humor is great.
I still don't think it'll move past a season or two though. The whole new mystery a week thing feels a bit outdated for an hour long show, though it is the first episode. Shows that seem to last are those with a beginning and an end that's stretched over a period of a season, while this show is feeling like it begins and ends one episode then begins and ends the next, if that makes any sense. I would've thought that Chuck's mystery of death would've been stretch out a bit longer.
Still, this show does have charm, and I'll try to catch it when I can.

Many people are all pissy about a slight Alex made about "middle america" not going to like the show and causing it to get cancelled. It's hipocritical since "city folk" are also stereotyped and you don't see us complaining.
Whatever, Most people will probably not watch this show without "grass roots" word of mouth advertising from people like us.
