View Full Version : If 360 games required a HDD, would you care?

There's been a lot of talk recently about possible upcoming 360 games possibly requiring a hard drive and how bad it would look for Microsoft if that were to happen. Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about, surely they haven't sold that many core consoles and if they have, all you need to do is lower the damn cost of the 20GB hard drive, which is already way over-priced anyway.

Thoughts?

I actually don't know anyone who was dumb enough to buy a Core system, so I don't think it'll really affect many people.

I'm looking forward to it. I was one of the people who was really disappointed when they decided to even make a version of the 360 without the hard drive, as it essentially meant games couldn't be made to use it. So I'm glad they're taking this step.

If that means improved games, I'm all for it.

Not only are they still selling the core, they're pushing them harder than ever--as a competitor to the Wii. That really complicates things when they want to utilize the hard drive. It's a seriously bad move to divide your user base like that. They should have never, ever introduced a system with no hard drive.

What are we to expect from our gaming experience when using the HD? Faster load times maybe, anything else? Game updates go on the HD already anyway, right? So what is happening right now to the people who have a game that has an update? I don't see it being a huge deal, and those w/o the HD probably don't care all that much, and if they really are hardcore gamers, they'll get the HD aftermarket.

If all we're talking about is faster load times, then what is the big deal?

Only moms and kids get the core, and they won't be playing stuff like GTAIV which is what the HDDs will obviously be used for.

I wouldnt care, but then I have the premium.

This is the stupid no HDD coming back to bite them in the arse, but if games need it they should just bite the bullet and put them out.

I think the Football Manager game over here has already required it anyway.

What would these games be using the HDD for?

As said already - any extra content is already saved on there (downloaded through XBL).. Unless games now need to be compressed and stored uncompressed - for better performance?

I dont think I would care too much. Pretty much everyone I know has a HDD so if it ment speeding up loading times or something else like that then cool with me.

I think it would be just fine if this happened. The whole point of the core was so that people cold save money (right?), and people who bought one have had their fun with it at the cheaper price. Now its time for them to make the rest of the investment.
