Talking in the IRC Totally Rad Show chatroom today, I threw out the term "homeslice". Somebody said homeslice should be getting used more.

What are some other old slang or other words that should be brought back to use in our modern world?

As I stated in the chat room, I hope this never comes back. This was so over used I hope that generations to come never have to go through the same pain I did.

I've been trying to bring back the word "foxy" to describe hot women, but its not working out!

p.s. im 24, so its not from my generation.

I'm the same age that you are and I have a friend with whom 'foxy' is used in conversation quite frequently.

Also, I'm somewhat of a linguistic fossil in many regards and didn't know what 'sike' meant. Urban dictionary told me it is from the 80's and early 90's and I'm not sure if that really qualifies as 'old school', another term which seems entirely too based on context. :)

If these words make a comeback I think I will have to kill myself. They died for a reason - let them rest.

"Whoopsie Daises"

One time I was a around this girl I had a crush on, and I almost fell but I caught myself and I said whoopsie Daisy. I didn't mean too, it just slipped out. She made fun of me for hours about that. I'll never forget it.

Thats right, you're mad you didn't think of it first, right? :)

I am trying to cut down on my cursing...

Not to really attack you or anything, but I've been over this with a few people. and it still bugs me.

Words are merely human constructs. They mean nothing really. We just make recognizable grunts and slap some meaning over them so we can converse with each other. But for some reason some people seem to find some grunts offencive, and have made them in a way, taboo, to say.

Words hold no weight. There really is no such thing as a "bad" word. And if you think a certain word is bad (Say, "Dammit".) and you use another word in its place (Say, "Dangit".). You are not saying anything less 'bad' than the previous word. Its really the context that matters, not the word its self. "Fudge" is no better than "Fu**". "Shoot" is no better than "Sh**" and "Whoopsie Daises" is no better than any other word when used in place of a "curse word".

This post is either gonna make me look smart, or like an ass and its not meant to do either...

South Park would beg to differ and if there is anything i've learned with my time on this planet it's that TV is NEVER wrong.

I said "Biggie Smalls" into my mirror at least fifty times and he never showed up. So I think they lie some times.

i agree with you patch, its actually stupid to think that I can't say certain words, but I can replace similar sounding words in the exact same context and then its socially acceptable.

BTW, in your sig, whats up with the Jeff and Diane thing? Whos Diane?

Patch, cursing, though just words, can still get a nine year old in trouble at school when he repeats it.

Legally, that shouldn't be the case. Unless its a private school. If its a public school, being funded with our taxes, it has to allow free speech. "cursing" is free speech.

just supporting your point with mine.
once you use a word enough, it loses all meaning.

I still say "Wicked".
"Oh snap!" comes up frequently as well, though I think that's more from watching "My Name Is Earl". (Joy)

I say wicked too, but as a magnifying adjective, like "very" (on second thought, that may be an adverb, my grammar class is failing me)

Some others I've been trying to bring back:

mass-rad
dope
fresh

I also like the old-school word 'sore' in place of 'mad' - e.g. My wife is sore at me because I forgot to call her.

The wounds are still too fresh from "Thats so Raven" for us to start saying "Oh Snap" again.

I have another.
I just realized I still say, "Sweet!" pretty often.
"Awesome" will always be a staple for me.
