TV guide put up some info yesterday and today about two characters that we thought were dead but are coming back to their respective shows. Well, technically Cynthia Watros' Libby is only going to be in flashbacks this season but Damon Lindelof, one of the executive producers, says that she will be in multiple episodes this year and it will fill in most of her backstory. On the other side of the yard, 24 is either desperate or brilliant because Carlos Bernard aka Tony Almeida is back! Here's the quote from executive producer Howard Gordon,
"Tony's uncertain fate... left the door open for his return, and since there was no silent clock at the conclusion of his last appearance — the 24 tribute to a major character's demise — we always kept this as a possibility." Also Jack is apparently going to be on trial for his actions off the bat and maybe more importantly it's going to be in D.C. I kinda smell the shark in the water but I'll have to wait and see.

That's cool. I liked Libby and was disappointed and surprised when they killed her off so quickly, leaving a major void in her story. This leads me to hope that they may tie up additional loose ends.

I disagree, I think the show needs to tie up some sh*t and don't expand on a "c" list dead character. Stick to the REAL story and stop creating new loose ends.

Same. I smelled a shark as soon as they mentioned that this season will have a lot of off-island stuff. Theres 3 more seasons (remember its ending in 2010) and they're ALREADY moving off the island...hrm.

You really aren't curious how Libby popped up in both Hurley's and Desmond's flashbacks?
You don't care that she may work for Dharma?
You don't care that Dharma may have played a part in setting up different characters in such a way that years later they might have all ended up just where they are now?

I agree with kahunablair on this one. While the show needs to tie up some dead ends....I honestly think that making sure we know Libby's backstory is an important storytelling vehicle for the writers. Plus she got written off with Ana Lucia because of them getting DUI's. Same with Mr. Echo. Plus wtf about charlie? And the flash forwards? I am super excited about the premiere but why is it in January? I can't wait.

I was actually thinking more that 24 might have sharks swimming around it rather than Lost, Lost redeemed itself almost completely with the last half of season 3.

*sigh* I guess. Isn't it obvious to everyone that since all these people have been seen interacting in the flashbacks, and the information about dharma that we already have, that it WAS all set up that way? I'm not saying I don't like the show, I'm just tired of being jerked around from episode to episode.

It's not obvious. That's the beauty of it. The show is so 50/50 on science and faith.
Were they all brought together by an organization like Dharma? Or was it fate that has them all careening towards each other?

Dharma created their psuedo-faith.

Dharma created their psuedo-faith.
I'm not talking about that manufactured one. The Others aren't with Dharma and they obviously have a weird faith. Eko had his Christianity. Locke has his Mysticism.
I think Faith is just as important as the hatches.
Edit: A dharma is part of actual Asian religions. It's not psuedo-faith.

I locke's mysticism. The others had his father, thus they had the key ingredient for his entire backstory, including the events on the island controlled by dharma / the others. Eko's christianity I think was legit, but the murder of his brother [I]and his "landing" on the island also was manufactured. As far as the other's faith... it's classic lord of the flies mentality, spiritualism is devised by a society that needs it.
