I love when magazines/sites publish lists of "the best" of things so that people with no ability to think for themselves can claim to have good taste.

Arcade fire my ass, how they made the number 1 spot I will never know. I've never read harp magazine, but judging from the website it seems it's just a handful of isolated dude who put down the top 50 albums that they've played in the office over the last couple years because they needed a filler article since not much is going on in the news right now. In fact, I didn't look but I'm bettin they're on the west coast judging by the number one, because it seems like the arcade fire gets a helluva lot more love over there than in the east.

And there are some seriously under represented genres here, it seems like they made a list of 50 indie rock records and said shit, we need to throw the hip hop people a bone, through in the love below, and loretta lynn should keep the country people happy, now back to talking about the music we like.

And I'm going to pre-empt this right now, I don't want to see any smart-asses say Guns N Rose - Appettite for destruction is the only album I'll ever need, it adds nothing to the discussion.

I love it when they do that and get an album name wrong. It's "Electric Version" not "Electric Vision."

Completely agree, this list is complete shit. I've never read this magazine either, but thanks to this list, I never will.

I was pleasantly surprised by the New Pornographers making it on the list several times.

CD's? What are they.... oh yea those are the things I lay my beers and milkshakes on.. Vinal is where it is at!

Seriously, I use Download services, iTunes, Bittorrent, Bitrocket, I mean I still put my backed up data on CD's but thats only what they are really useful for now-a-days.

Arcade Fire is based out of Montreal

Not only CDs, but I buy vinyl. I'm old - if you get my money, I want something physical in return. I also am highly reluctant to ordering anything off of the internet (including trusted sources like Amazon), by the end of the transaction, they've got my money and I've got squat - this is not an equation that I enjoy.

The only time I buys CDs is when it's off the good ol' intarweb. Only cos I can't find what I'm looking for on bittorrent sites and stores.

"CDs, what are those LOLoloLoLol?"

The only reason why arcade fire might get number one, is because the are probably the best 'live' band since Kiss. I hear their shows are epic and shit. But best cd WTF...

Also wheres modest mouse-GNFPWLBN

"Death Cab For Cutie is the most epic band ever, because they make my heart feel like it's cutting itself with tiny little barbed razors every time they sing a meloncholy song. Now excuse me, I have to go finish writing this list in my own sad blood."

Hahahaha..... Makes me wish I wasn't like that.

Re-read my quote, doesn't matter where they're from, I'm saying they have a bigger fanbase on the westcoast and an east coast music mag like blender would be less likely to place them at number 1.

And who buys CDs? I do. I for one like ripping my own music at whatever bitrate I want rather than taking the 128 or whatever that itunes gives you, and not having the DRM that limits how and where my music can be played. On top of that, I enjoy using services like LaLa.com to trade CDs to learn about new artists, and would much rather buy a CD on there for 6 bucks rather than the 12 dollars it would cost me on Itunes at 99 cents a track. And I wouldn't say those artists are all mainstream, many of them I've never heard of and may give a listen to so I guess the list accomplished something.

Bubblegum by Mark Lanegan is also a damn good CD, it's overlooked by a lot and didn't get alot of press but it's one of those under the wire music afficionado type albums, definitley worth checking out.

And with the types of albums they chose to put on the list, I'd really like to have seen Richard Ashcroft's "Keys to the World" on there

Seriously, **** a magazine no one's heard of for voicing their opinion. People need to stop having opinions and leave that to computers. That's what they're for!

I would have to agree, but I posted this because I was in the frame of mind of seeing the viewpoints of the fourms on here.

Plus I can't remember who said the Black Keys.....but you know what the sun is all about when the lights go out.
