After all this time i finally found a solution that works.

http://www.ps3hax.net/index.php?topic=593.0

Right now this is the simplest most reliable solution i have found. The quality is pretty good, but be prepared for it to not be super top notch on some things. Im working on getting diggnation HD working on it right now. So far it looks fantastic, but the sound isnt syncing up on the conversion, so far ive tried just mp4 through. I dont know whats up yet, but if you knew what i have gone through today alone to find this and get this up and working you would understand why now at 10:50 im calling it quits :)

Anyway. Hope ya guys digg it and enjoy it. Once i get diggnation HD working i might host it up for us, with the rev3 ok first ofcourse and probably 2 days after the membership release.

But for right now, use the divx release of TRS for best results and you dont have to pass it through QT.

Check it out.

It's still transcoding though. I wish one of the new consoles would just go ahead and reease native support for these codecs, or I'll probably never end up getting rid of my Xbox 1.

The problem is that the Divx format is a proprietary format. Sony should just go with Xvid since it's open source and just use that in their system. It would be free and play Divx/Xvid files.

i personally like using nero mediahome... that does the divx transcoding on the fly... and you just add the media server to your ps3 and it plays all my divx stuff pretty well... sometimes i get sync issues, but its only happened once or twice for me.

what version you using ?

I tried to use nero 8 and it didnt work out too well. I couldnt add directories and it just wouldnt play a single thing.

Does nero do .mov ? If so im gonna give that a try cause i would rather not pass through the HD version of diggnation and not to mention the fact that i still cant get the audio to sync.

hmmm i just installed tversity and i think its a lot better than nero =)

videos load a whole lot quicker...

and the ps3 doesnt do the .mov from nero either, so no luck there.

Neither Microsoft or Sony will ever support DivX/XviD, simply because content providers (e.g. movie/tv companies) wouldn't provide content to a device that supported piracy.

It sucks, but I think transcoding is the best we'll ever get.
