Default The Best Security Suite for Windows 7

Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows of some good, and speedy security suites for W7. Remember, FREE is good! Any thoughts on IObit Security 360, they have the pro free until November. Does any body like Norton 2010

I will make a pole when I get enough suggestions.

Remember, for Windows 7.

A good os should not need an extra program except in unusual situations.

I would use security essentials, but do I need a firewall besides windows firewall (remember, this is only temporary until my other PC's subscriptions run out)?

The only place I use firewall software is on my laptops. When I'm at home, I expect my routers to take care of that.

I am much the same. I only ever activated my software firewall (Windows default firewall FWIW) when I was out from behind my local LAN.

Firewall software has become a lazy self defense measure though, with people using it to detect what is trying to dial OUT of their computers. Thats locking the barn door after the horse has bolted. If you prevent the infection (generally trojan/malware/spyware, and NOT a virus) in the first place that use for a firewall is moot.

Its like taking heavy doses of multivitamins because you have a crappy diet.

Even on the laptops, I run Windows firewall and leave it at that. I also use common sense when I'm surfing.

I used to run Zonealarm or something like that. But it got to where the various add-on firewalls were flagging every damned thing even though I repeatedly told them those applications were okay, and I decided it simply wasn't worth the bother and hassle.

So I run Windows firewall, I run Microsoft Security Essentials, I scan the whole machine once a week, and I don't do stupid things to begin with. I've never had any problems.
