I'm not really a huge fan of "Capes and Cowls". I always preferred more gritty more "Adult" stories.
Right now, I'm reading Fables,Jack of Fables, The Walking Dead,Sweet Tooth, Scalped and some other random comics. I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some others that are more in the mature side. I was looking at some of the ads in the back and they were talking about AIR and Hellblazer and 100 Bullets. Are those any good? Any others would be great as well. Also, I wouldn't say I'm completely against Superhero comics it's just their are so many out there and I just feel like I've missed too much. (I saw a trade of the Dark Avengers but the way the back of the trade described it made me think their was more to the story....) Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

Comics have always had history but they also ignore it quite often. I think you should not worry about the backstory and try a few SuperHero comics that look interesting. You will probably find that you understand what is going on pretty quickly.

The Losers Y: The Last Man Preacher Queen and Country Criminal Parker: The Hunter Whiteout Each of those books are unique in their own way, but each are really awesome, particularly if you're looking for non-superhero fair.

That's because he's a wee bit prolific. The man is right with every single recommendation there.

Since you are already reading a couple of the Vertigo books you should really just continue mining the imprint, it is a lot of gold in there i'll tell ya. You have already gotten some great suggestions from the other guys but i want to add some of my one favorites:
Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis DMZ by Brian Wood 100 bullets by Brian Azzarello Also not from the Vertigo imprint but still great picks: Ex Machina by Brian K. Vaughan Hellboy/B.P.R.D. by Mike Mignola Powers by Brian Michael Bendis |
