I am starting a small business, and have been provided a free office space for 7 months from a friend who provides free internet to the building as part of the service to all its tenants.
I can connect to this internet service (its using wep encryption) via my laptop no problems. issue: I want to get vonage as phone service. question: is there any device out there a good router perhaps, that will take the wifi signal, and allow me to connect other devices via the ethernet port? laptop, printer, vonage device for phone service etc? Newbie to this forum, thanks in advance for any assistance provided. Best Regards, X81kilo |

Where I work we use these . They are a bit more pricey but they are very reliable. In a business environment I'd spend the extra cash. Also I'd be happy to put together a step by step guide, showing you how to set it up. Although I'm sure you can figure it out, it's super simple.

WEP is garbage. Easily defeated.
BTW, what type of business? Do you have to worry about privacy laws of your clients/customers? Some states, like CA have privacy laws along with the Feds. BTW, with Vonage, make sure you are allocated enough bandwidth, otherwise your calls will suffer. |

Chances are that most off the shelf wifi will not support a network.Tube (aka bandwidth) is too small.
wifi security is an oxi-moron. No such thing for the most part. ap > router > network. Last edited by justpeon : 06-06-2012 at 09:45 AM. |
