Here is my problem. I don't know jack about wine, so I tune in. The problem is that neither of the criteria employed on the show (smell and taste) are transferable in this medium. The uninitiated can have no sense of what Oak-y and his friends are. The only thing to which I can relate is spitting over the Jet's logo--if Chad Pennington spit into the Jets bucket there would be wine all over the floor (go colts!). I i guess I should just enjoy the interaction (which I do) and keep track of the final scores?

Well I just watch it and look for tastes and smells and other characteristics that I might like. I mean I love raspberries and cassis so I definitely look for wines he tastes and likes that have strong smells/tastes of that.
For example. Plus I just love watching Gary, he's always having such a blast |

It's subtle, but yeah. The more practice you do trying to identify smells the better you get. I'm still only picking up one or two smells at BEST, but it used to be just "Hmm, smells like wine"
