The ar430w router is on sale this weekend at frys for 15 bucks and is rumored to be firmware upgradeableto dd-wrt and possibly tomato. I may get one tommorow.

It's easy enough to confirm or deny the rumor before you put your cash on the barrel. Go to dd-wrt and tomato's web sites, search through the supported devices list to see if you see that router listed. Granted it's only 15bucks, so if you want to chance it w/o spending that 5 minutes to check it shouldn't hurt that much to be wrong.

You are absolutely right about getting the facts first. I do not think it works with tomato. But I have found extensive docs for dd-wrt. Maybe tomato will get converted for it with all the people who might be getting it. For fifteen dollars that is cheap insurance for having redundancy for a router. I like to use two routers: one with open ports as needed and the rest of the network beside it on a second router with normal security.
