Default A question geared more for the actual staff of the show

Okay I plan on starting my own video podcast soon, its gonna be a review of rock music just kinda something to do kinda deal, and there's some things I'm not too sure of.

-When you guys show clips of animes do you need to contact the production studio or distributor, because I wanna show clips of music videos and stuff and dont want the censorship fuzz kickin down my door

-What is interview etiquette in terms of setting them up or going to a show/convention and finding someone to interview

you know things like that, basically I'm just wandering what kind of stuff I should know to make a good podcast like Anime Tv

from what i understand their is a difference between say a promotional clip of an anime and a full length song. Not long ago the RIAA were trying to close down all the online radio stations for not licensing the songs, or something to that effect. The RIAA would probably be your biggest obstacle, they could say that you are pirating their music videos and distributing them.

see the thing is though i wasnt really planning on using the whole things because there'd probably be some legal craziness to back it up so I was just gonna use clips

If I remember correctly, and I could be very wrong, shows were allowed to play something like 3 seconds of a song before it becomes infringing and requiring licensing of the song. The RIAA along w/ the DMCA will be your biggest hurdles, even for clips.

You may want to hit up some forums related to copyrights, or regulations. Perhaps you could start with the EFF ( http://www.eff.org/ ) don't know if they'd be able to help or not, but that's where I'd probably start.

Other than that, perhaps write in/twitter to Leo Laporte or Patrick Norton. They both have been in the 'business' for a long time and might have a better answer for you.

Again, I'm far from an expert, I'm just taking a wild guess here.
