The Below VAIO Laptop is running very hot, and even the simplest things crank up the CPU usage. At idle, the CPU averages at about 8%. No, there are no virus'. No, there are no crapware at startup. Yes, Windows Aero is running, but flawlessly. So, should I crack it open, and blow out the dust bunny's.
Any ideas? And this isn't an emergency, so I am not freaking out for an answer.

Before you crack it open, try a can of compressed air through the vents. You'd be amazed at how much stuff can come out, and how much difference it can make. I blow out all my laptops monthly.
Now, having said that, cpu usage is software. If the cpu usage is going up along with the temp, then something software is causing that usage. Heat alone does not make usage go up. |

If you aren't going to crack it open, I'd recommend a vacuuming rather than compressed air, since the air will usually blow the dust further in instead of out. I go with air only when it's not enclosed.

I'm working on getting compressed air can. I will do both, vacuum and compressed air.
