Hello all,
I'm going to become a STEMNET ambassador soon and am looking to do a "lecture" on science in general. STEMNETs mission statement is basically to get children interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in school. Some Scam School episodes feature pretty cool things which I think can get kids interested in STEM. At the moment I've had a quick look and elected to do the Power Band exercise to illustrate the placebo effect, the Benford's Law episode and, just for fun, the Petals Around The Rose episode. I'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions? Scam School episodes or not. Cheers for the beers, James. P.S. The STEMNET website is here for anyone that's interested: www.stemnet.org.uk Last edited by smithware : 04-30-2012 at 09:46 PM. Reason: Add link |

James,
The Power Band scam is a favourite of mine and if it's Maths you're after, may I suggest SS's very own Mathalete (episode 170) - great! This is a pretty cool site which utilises everyday objects and turns them into pretty neat projects and inventions. Lots to choose from. Hope it's of interest. http://makeprojects.com/ Chris Mine's a Guinness too if you're up my way! (Reckon SS should be sponsored by Guinness, Brian features it so often). |
