I would check out DL.TV because in episode 168 they talked about which upscaling DVD player to get, or if yo should use the settings on you're HD set.

InDigital will be looking at upconverting DVD players in the next few episodes, but these will go around $200.00 or more. We'll try to look at the under $100.00 upconverting DVD players if possible.

The SAMSUNG one that I have is pretty nice. It was about $99.
However, it only converts up to 720p and 1080i.

Best upconverting DVD player in the world
http://www.oppodigital.com/ You can also buy them at http://www.amazon.com/ Just look at the reviews on this player--you will not find a better deal. |

Agreed on the OPPO recommendation. Peruse avsforums.com and see what they think.

Like Masher, I'd vote for the Samsung 850HD (or it successor).
Only downside is lack of Divx/Xvid support ... but there are hacks that let you get around that, and since I only watch DVDs (legit ones) on that system, its not such a big deal. Oh yeah - looks awesome on a 60" TV .. but the TV MUST have HDMI inputs (I run mine via a Sony receiver with an HDMI switch). Again, there are hacks out there that will let you run the up conversion over component cables as well.Should also mention its cheaper than an OPPO ![]()
