Default PS3 High Definition Feed Corruption?

Hello Support, I am using my PS3 to watch Revision3 shows. I find I can watch every version except the High Definition version of your shows. I am wondering is it the PS3 or is it a problem on your side. I know the PS3 browser is not the best in the world but being able to watch your shows on a television is sweet. I hope a solution can be found.

It is a problem on Rev3's side, and it has been mentioned a gazillion times

It is due to the fact that they use a .mov container for the HD. Nobody really seems to know why, they should use mp4 like for the large QT, and there is an official thread that discusses this.

Yeah, it's annoying

If you downlpad the shows you can save then as Mp4 using a program called MPEG Streamclip - that's what I do. Don't know if there is anything to do if you watch through the PS3 browser.

Yes, this has been brought up and we're quite aware of it. Unfortunately it's the encoding software we use (compressor) and the intricacies of how it encodes HD. You can work around this if you have qt pro, just rip it out of the .mov container with the export feature (it shouldn't have to do any real transcoding).

Cool to get a (semi) technical explanation. It's nice to know that it's not just because you like to mess with us :P

Oh and BTW, MPEG Streamclip can do the same thing as QT Pro, only it's free

If you guys know it's an issue and know how to fix it, why isn't it being encoded and then ran through a pass-through convert (usually takes 15 seconds) before it gets posted on the site?

I'll spare you the gory details of our encoding workflow, but this currently is rather difficult to implement. Too, adding a single manual step has a very large impact on our time to delivery. Automation of this step is non-trivial. We are investigating solutions but I figured I'd let you all know that we know of the problem and that there is an interim workaround.
