There have been quite a few episodes now relating to the 3d environment and 3d manipulation within Photoshop. I myself find these tool very exciting, it open's up a whole new perspective on things, quite literally.
If you too are new to working within a 3d environment these 3d manipulation tools can feel very alien, fidgety almost ,but with a little practice they can become very powerful tool's, whether it be for placing 3d models within your existing artworks, embedding video's into 3d objects (like in this episode) or for creating fun little animations for your websites. If you find these new feature within photoshop get you excited about the possibility's of applying 3d into your artworks or projects, as Bert say's there are many free models out there, many different category's of objects just Google it. On the other hand you may be thinking, well how can i create my own model's? well as you have seen in previous episodes you can create shapes by using displacement maps into the 3d plane but what if you want to create something which has more complex or exact shapes. Well you will probably have to fork out a fortune for a professional 3d CAD program, right? Wrong, i came across a very helpful program for creating 3d model and guess what IT'S FREE , you may be thinking well if its free it wont be very a powerful application, wrong again. Not only can you build 3d model's in this application but you can, just like in Photoshop animate these objects , apply video, texture's, displacement maps and set up 3D scene's in which you can Control the lighting, cameras and reflectivity of objects. Now for all you who are enthusiastic about photoshops 3D capability's this is a tool that could really expand your idea's and creativity,,,,,,,,,,,, And just like Bert Say's,, Have fun with it , Just play....................... 3d Application....WWW.BLENDER.ORG This is an open source application and has a huge community of user's who are always there to help with any questions you may have , or solutions to problems you come across. There are many tutorial's available on the net for beginners and advanced techniques go check them out........Google Blender PS. Thanks for another insightful episode of Pixel Perfect......Cheers Bert. |

Hi there,
I have a problem with the "New Mesh from Greyscale -> Plane". I've done everything like bert (at least I hope so). When I try to 'convert' those rectangles http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2226/tmpaf6d.png to 3D, nothing happens. http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2928/tmp145.png Can anyone may help me with this? (yeah it's german photoshop, but I'm pretty sure I pressed the right buttons )Last edited by martinyyyy : 08-14-2009 at 09:44 PM. |

Hi! Monroy video tutorial are really fantastic and I am learning a lot, but in this tutorial I don't succeed in putting together the grey 3 D shape and the video, already transformed into 3 d postcard. Clicking on alt click in order to bring the video into the shape I obtain only a copy of the video
How can I do? Yhanks a lot Have a nice day. Gisella Last edited by gisella : 12-02-2009 at 04:35 AM. |
