Shinkon Gattai Godannar is my guilty pleasure anime

The title pretty much says it all. I love this anime. And yet I'm fully embarrassed to admit it. Of course I can here due to some degree of internet anonymity. It's basically a throw back to the crazy meccha anime of the 80's, but it was made between 2003-2004.

It's full of cool mechs that move totally unrealistically, the girl's mechs have boobs, the guy's mechs are huge and manly, and of course they have to be able to combine! They shout out all their super-moves before performing them, as if it's required. It's WAY over the top action and pretty much just a "monster of the week" type show, although there is a bit of an overall story going on as the two seasons progress. It has a definite ending, and pretty much every question that's brought up is answered by the end, so at least it has all that going for it.

And don't forget the over abundance of fan service!

and i concur...it is a guilty pleasure. i think your summation was spot-on. I always love when they announce their attacks. (you know they have to--or else they wont work lol) if i remember correctly doesnt she sit between his legs when they combine? pure enjoyment.

i know i have brought this up before as kaiji has on his top five list but goa gai gar is the ultimate parody of delicious foolishness.

Just in case anyone wants to know a little bit more about Godannar, and how absurd it is, here's a trailer that covers the basics of the entire first season. No really big spoilers, other than a reveal of a certain character that show up as the season progresses. So if you don't mind a minor spoiler, this clip is quite amusing, and has a great action packed section starting at 2:20!

very interesting? Never heard of it. I personally don't like mecha shows other then the original Macross and Eureka Seven. Those shows are not about mechs though. More about the characters it just happens to have mechs as part of the story.
