Default Sony Bravia affects Dish DVR remote control?

OK, so here's my setup;
46" sony bravia lcd
vip722k dish dvr
harmony one remote (or even the dish remote)

Issue: loose control of DVR when LCD backlight is set less than 5 (range of 0-9)

Stumbled on this by accident because the room is bright during the day, so family likes the vivid (backlight=max) setting. But at night, i like to watch movies in cinema (backlight=2). so i modified the cinema backlight setting until the remote(s) worked. Which set the value to 5.

This doesnt happen to any other IR control of my TV, Blu-ray, Receiver, or HTPC. What are my options?

Default Update

Here's something even stranger that i've found.

Regardless of time of day (meaning influence of daylight), i will often have to set the TV picture mode to VIVID. Then the dvr functions on the Harmony One will work, but until i do that switch.

So if i do a few commands to control the DVR, i can then switch the TV picture mode BACK to the desired settings. In my case Cinema mode with the backlight adjusted up to 5. The preset cinema mode sets the backlight to 2. 5 is the minimum that the DVR functions will work once i do the above jockying.

So, now i need to add above process to the Watch TV activity so i can forget about it.

Just posting for internet posterity until a fix comes from Dish. Ok, that's funny....

Move the DVR.
You are getting some sort of light interference, so either move the DVR or shield the IR sensor a little so that its not getting direct light pollution from the TV.
